Looks and ease of setting.

None I liked this carb. from the time I installed it. It looks great and the performance met all of my expetations. Could not get it to jet for NOS. Similar Products Used: Holley is better for NOS. |

Strength:
Easy to work on and calibrate. Comes out of the box really close to fit your application. Look nice, and are affordable. Edelbrock is very responsive with your questions through email. Electric choke is easily adjusted for winter and summer months. Makes your car a lot faster!
Weakness:
I have yet to find any When I first bought my Nova 4 years ago, it had a 600 cfm Holley on it, with an Edelbrock Torker II intake, on a 307 Chevy. This setup was entirely wrong for the car, and I replaced the old leaky popping Holley on it with a new Edelbrock 600 cfm with electric choke. The car immediately ran 100% better! I had to change the step up springs from the stock ones to the 8" ones, but that only took about 5 minutes, and then the car was very responsive, faster, and better on gas! Since then, I pulled out the tired 307 and replaced it with a freshly rebuilt 383 Stroker. Since this engine was much bigger, I decided to go with the Edelbrock 750 cfm. This time, it ran great as well, but just a little rich. So I bought the calibration kit, jetted down the primaries two sizes, left the secondaries alone, and now it runs great! I highly recommend the Edelbrock performer series carburetor to those who do not want to deal with a lot of problems. I have nothing against Holleys or how they work, but I have found in my personal experiences that Edelbrock is a better choice as far as street performace goes. Similar Products Used: I have used Holley prior to Edelbrock, and I would personally use Edelbrock over Holley and recommend Edelbrock over Holley as well. |

Strength:
Plenty of power. Ease of adjustment. Good looks. What else can you ask for in a carb?
Weakness:
Parts are a little pricey. Rich out of the box, but hey, great for a racer or a hotrod. Just a little rich for my 4x4 I bought a 1407 and bolted it up to my 400sb. Ran rich as Bill Gates out of the box. This didn't seem right for a 750 cfm carb to run rich on 400 cu in. Gas fumes would make a grown man cry. I emailed edelbrock with my story and got a response that fixed all my problems. Smaller mains and metering rods - instant throttle response and no more tears. It took about 20 min. to correct the rich condition. Similar Products Used: Great carb for those that are tired of replacing power valves and disassembling just for jet replacement. |
