Girl at desk said I needed to purchase $96 insurance or I couldnt have car. After 3 mornings of phone calls and 3 hour drive (while on my vacation) to another office, I finally got it straightened out.

Girl flat out lied about ins. Very nice guy at other location just shook his hesd and called them snakes. Said he's had to undo a lot of these. Stay away from Thrifty car rental

Rental agent that lies to sell product and a company that does not respond when this is brought the their attention.

We rented a car in Fort Myers we expect that they will try to upgrade and sell things to us. However when we mentioned that we would be going to Tampa the agent said we had to pay for a toll pass. When we were told that would be $45 a week we said we would pass and pay the tolls as we went. The agent then said that we could not pay cash that all toll were electronic and the fine is about $100 if we did not have the pass. I even repeated this to him and he said yes. So we paid the additional $90 for a 2 week rental and left. When we traveled to Tampa we passed through one toll which we could have paid $1.25 cash to pass through. When I sent in a "how was your experience" email to Thrifty I received no response. This just show me that Thrifty as a company does not mind that their employees lie to sell product but I think may encourage it. I will never rent through Thrifty again and I advise everyone else not to.

I have rented with Enterprise and with Hertz both in the last year and was extremely please with both. I like Enterprise because a spouse is automatically covered as driver and there is no additional cost.

Reservation site is easy to use

They picture american made cars on their website but when we try to get one for our reservation they only have foreign made ones available unless we want to upgrade which doubles
our cost. This happens time and time again. We won't be using them again. Way to support America Thrifty

After an hour on the phone trying to get someone to help us get an American made car the bottom line is forget it! Price gouging at its best! They advertise American made cars but don't have them available .

The salesperson did a poor job of explaining each step in the signing procedure and was a poor listener as I specifically said I did not want insurance three times. It was also stated on my internet reservation that I didn't want any insurance options. When I discovered the error Thrifty was not accomadating at all and wouldn't refund the money to the tune of over $500. I will NEVER use Thrifty again. I feel the salesperson intentionally deceived me.

Advertised as inexpensive rental but there were lots of hidden charges

HOrrible customer service. Thought I was getting a cheap rental and then there were tons of add-on fees in the fine print. I will never go there again.

Prepay with other companies is for the convenience of not having to find a gas station and subsequently charged for only what was used. Don't rent from this company. I ordered a car online and noticed a week before the car pickup that I had to change the pick up time from 9:00 to 3:00. Because I changed the pick up time they charged me an extra $330 dollars from the previous quoted price. Phoned and no satisfaction from the company. They said the contract had been changed. Apparently, this is policy for any Thrifty's car rental in the states. Be warned.

My car was totaled in an accident (Not my fault). I called various car rental companies to get quotes and Thrifty was the lowest. Thrify’s quote was $249. When I showed up to get the car the employee told me that the “optional” coverage was actually mandatory (which I later found out wasn’t true) and would cost $263 plus taxes and fees brought the total to $546 for their cheapest car. He refused to give me the car for the $249 price that I was promised. They were about to close and I needed a car to get to work and he took advantage of that. The employee saw how mad I was and upgraded me to a 2010 Dodge Charger for no additional charge. The day my rental was to expire I called to let them know I would be a little late returning the car. I was told it would only cost $8/hour past the due date. When I returned the car 1 hour late I was charged $8 for 1 hour and $24 for a full day of insurance plus $71.91 for the 9 gallons of gas they had to put in the car which is $7.99/gallon. The total came to $652.62 the person I returned it to at the airport named Curtis knocked $30 dollars off. Bottom line, a $249 over the phone quote turned to $622.62. These people are crooks.

Nothing, wish I could rate them a big fat zero!

I prepaid and booked an SUV and then called later to have it changed to a suburban. They did not have anything available and kept my money. Apparently, San Antonio is a Franchise and does not care if they overbook. That same day they overbooked 13 minivans. So, another 13 people upset because they didn't get what they wanted or didn't deliver. I had to go to Enterprise Commerical off 281. Glad I did cuz I got to book what I needed for 195.00 total for 4 days. They rock! Next time Enterprise all the way!

You should never rent from these guys EVER! Worst rental car company in the world. They will overbook,then try to get you into something that doesn't work and keep your money! Try Enterprise instead. I used Thrifty in Costa Rica and loved them, but San Antonio is awful. They should not be allowed to rent any cars.

We originally booked a SUV, but wanted to change to a minivan, and ended up paying over triple the amount of money that we would usually pay at a different car rental facility for a minivan. They decided to give us a luxury van, without telling us, and charged us a lot more for giving us the luxury van we did not want. They said that the luxury van was "our gift to you", and we "did not have to pay extra", however, when we asked them why we payed so much for the rental, they said that we had a luxury van, and that was the price for a luxury van, which we did not even ask for in the first place.

The service counter employee was not friendly or helpful, and seemed to cheat us out of our money by telling us one thing, and us later realizing we payed much more than they had implied.

To sum it up, do NOT use thrifty as a car rental service. They are NOT trustworthy, they are NOT helpful, and they charge you a HIGHER price than advertised online.
