Good customer service I have been using another rental car company for a long time and wanted to try Avis as an option. Extremelly dissatisfied with service and shady character. I rented full size car at Orlando, FL airport. Car was not clean at all. I was told to fill the gas within five miles of the airport when returning the car, which I did. However, I was charged $13.99 because I did not produce receipt of the gas filled. It was printed in small prints on the contract and I was not told by Avis at the time of renting that I should produce receipt. Avis agent had no idea of Orlando surrounding when I enquired about basic direction. She said she is not from the area. Must be flying into Orlando airport for the job. She also did not inform that car hass Epass for crossing toll roads in Orlando without paying. For information - Orlando has turnpikes which takes quarters in cash only lane and has no attendent available. If you dont have exact quarters then cross toll booth without paying and then expect a citation from Florida Toll Administration. I am from California and have not come across toll booths with no attendent available at window. I called Avis customer service on my return to CA and as expected they pointed me to small print on contract which stated I should produce gas - which they did receipt else I will be charged $13.99.

Avis Germany (Frankfurt) is scamming US renters at the price of $660 for a small cratch (under 1 inch) by just charging it to your credit card and producing phony estimates. Stay clear of them!! Fight the charge with your CC company. |

Service, Honesty, Intengrity the rep who logged in my daughter in law durning our visit to San Antonio failed to mention that she would be charged $125 for an under age fee, while we stood right there clearly older than 25 and perfectly able to rent the car in our names instead. He asked if she wished insurance but failed to inform her that she did not need it or any other option to do with insurance and it apears was charged the full amount for insurance possible. The rate without all the BS charges would have been $240 instead for 5 days $752.97. Now how do you justify that kind of abuse? The jacket that explains all your rights are not given to you until after you sign the receipt so you have no idea what you are truly signing until you put your intital down. Fraud, scam and down right wrong. Shame on you AVIS. I will be reporting this to the Air Force for future families traveling to San Antonio so that young wives coming to watch the airman gradute and go and fight for our country don't use this company and get the ride my family has taken. You have just lost two families from life of future rentals. |

They don't care about your safety. Check the car yourself. 100 miles away from Slat Lake City, where we rented the car we had a blow-out. We called the supposed 24/7 roadside assistance line on Avis' agreement folder. They did not have anyone that could come out to assist us. They suggested that we could drive on the donut for 3000 miles. On 80 mph speed limit roads that was not an option. The next suggestion was that they provide info on the nearest place we could get a new tire. The place they sent us to was 50 miles away and when we got to the address found that it hadn't been Big O Tires for 2 or 3 years. We were lucky. There were 2 other dealers in town and 1 had tires that would work. I say "tires" because when the mechanic put the car on the lift both tires had the steel belts showing. This car hadn't been gone over in quite some time. Because Avis would not give the shop a credit card to bill it to I had to pay for the $662 job myself. I was told by a manager named Drew that the amount would be subtracted from my car rental and the difference would be sent to me by check. During the remainder of our trip the check engine light kept coming on. We called the service manager in Sat Lake to find out that Avis only checks their cars every 7000 miles. That's scary. This man, Tony, told us that he'd take care of us. I guess that means nothing because upon returning the car the only thing we got was a bill for the rental and a promise that I'd be reimbursed for the tires and that Tony would probably comp the car for our inconvenience. Never heard from Tony. I called Avis costumer relations and was told that a check was cut for the tires and that they could offer me $85 in vouchers for future rentals. What a joke! As if I'd trust my life to an Avis car again. I think not. I asked for a manager and spoke with Dennis in Salt Lake who promised a 1/2 refund on the car. It has been 48 hours and still no refund on my card. Called Travelocity who claims to make things right, right away. Ha! Same BS. I wait... no check...no refund. DON'T DO IT! DON'T RENT FROM AVIS! |
