Strength:

None

Weakness:

Expensive. Don't beleive their commercials. They won't safe you 15%. I have no points but yet their identical policy was $800 more per year than Liberty Mutual. My advice is to call around. When I called to cancelled the policy the rep was the extremely rude. I will never deal or recommend them to anyone.

If you enjoy wasting your money. Or, being talked down to; go with Geico. Don't beleive the hype, they WILL NOT save you 15%.

Strength:

Nothing.

Weakness:

Service was horrible, I couldn't get a copy of the policy until the 5th month. Had problems with them obtaining something as simple as a driving record. Noone can answer a question on their own without redirecting the call. 24hr customer service is only good for signing you up, I had a problem and wasn't able to get it fixed until someone on the day shift came in. They still couldn't fiqure it out.

I would never recommend this company! Price wasn't any less then what I have gotten elsewhere for more coverge. I'm with Erie now and have gotten the best rate and service I've ever had (3years now).

Strength:

convenience of 24 hour a day contact with customer service, and billing options. Paying bill on line.

Weakness:

1. When I originally switched to GEICO a year ago, I had problems with them getting the correct information to the state DMV office. As a consequence, I received nasty notices from DMV saying I had to turn my tags in due to failure to maintain insurance.
2. I bought a new car 6 months later, and called and spoke to a GEICO rep. to give new car information. Assuming that I had coverage on the new vehicle and deleted the car that I traded in.....I discovered that 4 months later, the DMV had not received the appropriate information. Again, a mixup, and a hassle to straighten out.

Oonly about 5% cheaper compared to previous insurance carrier. I would only recommend to someone who works the hours that I do and may need to talk with a live person during any 24 hour period.

Strength:

Their goofy commercials.

Weakness:

Their goofy commercials. I'm starting to hate them and change the channel at the first site of them. Don't believe them, they won't save you 15%. I was with them for approx. 6 months when I added a new vechical to the policy. What a hassle, had to call them, then fax a form with signatures. The whole process took about an hour before I could drive the car off the lot. I canceled the policy the next day and saved approx. $500 total on annual premiums. To topit off my current company Libert Mutual stated that if you have a policy with them and purchase a new car it is automatically added to your policy and no approval needs to be made.

Call around and don't believe the marketing. To insure a Jetta and Jeep was $1425 with Geico. Paying $910 with Liberty Mutual. Be prepared to talk to a different rep each time you call them. I have contact with the same rep at libert mutual everytime I call.

Strength:

None!

Weakness:

They are crooks.

They are a**holes, that is all they are! My car was totalled in December 2000. I had just spent the entire summer doing an engine overhaul. The engine and transmission had only 1900 miles. I told them to tow it to my father-in-law's house. Instead, they towed it to a pay storage facility and said that the charges would be covered by them, so I agreed. I informed them them that I was going to buy the car back as part of the settlement. They said I could buy it for $350. I went there a few days later to get my Kenwood CD player out of the car while I was waiting for an offer price, just to find that they had already robbed the CD player. They won't pay for it.

It is now June 6, 2001. I still have not received any offer in writing from them. They also changed their mind today and said that I am now going to have to pay the storage facility charges if I want to buy the car back. The buyback salvage price has also increased to $400. The storage charges are $535. It is hardly worth it. They are already ripping me off by offering me (verbally) roughly $1000 less than the blue book value. (After they got my engine receipts, they added $32 to the price. WOW!) I say roughly $1000 because each time I call, it is a different figure!

If you have read this, you would have to be a real idiot give GEICO your business. As soon as I finally decide to give up, spread my cheeks and take my screwin from them, I am NEVER doing business with that rotten company again! I have spent countless hours on the phone and sent them fas after fax. I realize that all insurance companies are rotten, but this one is worse than any other I have dealt with.

Good luck!

Strength:

No strengths at all. They suck as a company.

Weakness:

Poor customer service. High rates. Dishonest sales tactics (you wont save money with Geico. Not even up to the 15% they advertise). Dishonest billing.

I can say that Geico really does suck!!! After signing up with Geico for the second time I discovered how dishonest Geico really is. When I signed up for my policy they tried to tell me that I couldn't get a better rate for insurance. At the time they seemed the lowest but that was a load of crap. For about $108 a month with Geico I could only get the State Required minimum. For $112 a month I could get comprehensive. I discovered that for much less for about $70-72 a month I could get full coverage on my car through State Farm. Basically Geico lied to me as I was able to get better coverage. Now I am with State Farm and pretty happy that I got my insurance through them. I have sinced asked for my downpayment back. That too is higher with Geico than with State Farm. With Geico it is a $152 down payment for the state required minimum. With State Farm I only had to pay $76.

The other problem I had with Geico is that as soon as I got my policy in the mail they wanted me to pay $46 more within the two weeks I got my policy. That's right 2 weeks after I already put down a hefty down payment they enclosed a bill. They also told me that I could get my renters insurance through Geico and then two customer service people later did an about face and said I couldn't get renters insurance through Geico. Whatever you do, don't buy insurance through Geico. I know I won't be going back to them again.
