Cadillac Escalade BD11-A
Strength:
Easy to remove-Install. Not sure if something sounds right? pop the belt off, and keep going. strong performance, many upgrade options.
Weakness:
Receives a lot of bad reviews. Most people hear supercharger, they think Race, A belt driven supercharger is not made for the strip. My BD11-A came on my Escalade from the factory. Cadillac Escalade XS-500, Google if you dont believe. When the second owner bought at 60,000 miles the charger needed bearings. I am not sure where he sent it to be rebuilt, but it did not last long after that. at about 80,000 miles the belt and tensioner were removed, and it was not touched for nearly two years. When I bought the vehicle, I sent it in to Superchargerrebuild.com, got the upgraded bearing service, belt and aftermarket billet impeller. I found a tensioner from 928motorsports, and a belt from local auto store, took maybe 20 minutes to install. First test drive, and the extra boost was evident. blew off my air intake, at 4000RPM. Boost used to start coming in at almost 3000RPM, now it starts at 1700RPM, no joke, 60 miles an hour, let off the gas, and it howls! This can be a good product when taken care of correctly. Remember, you get what you pay for. Dont try to save a couple bucks, it will cost you in the end. Whines like a ProCharger now too. No one has beleived it is a Powerdyne till they saw it. This is a great upgrade for Street applications. just dont abuse it, and you can enjoy it for much longer. Great for Trucks, SUV, and Larger, slower Vehicles.

Billet impeller for Powerdyne www. Supercharger Rebuild .com , good quality, price, quick turn around
Weakness:
NONE I bought a used BD11A kit off of ebay about a year ago to use on my 1995 Mustang Cobra. It ran ok stock, but I wanted more boost, so I decided to send it to www.SuperchargerRebuilds.com to have him rebuild it with the Ceramic bearings and billet impeller and man was I impressed! This thing immediately pulls much harder off the line, starting down at about 4 psi, at an amazingly low 2000rpm, whereas before that boost didn't really come on until almost 4000rpm, and it pulls all the way up to 10 psi at 6000! I've used it for about a year now and still going strong! It was an excellent deal and turn around was just 1 week! Super job guys! Similar Products Used: Powerdyne XB-1A |

Strength:
Very quiet, less expensive if you can pick one up used. Install extremely easy if you have any mechanical experience. No oil lines to run. Most vortech parts are interchangeable with it. Great beginner to intermediate supercharger IF rebuilt properly. GET IT REBUILT BY 928motorsports.com!!!
Weakness:
I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT GET REBUILT BY 928Motorsports.com, if not just throw it away and start with something else. Without it being rebuilt by 928motorsports it Does not: produce as much boost as advertised. Does not have cooler charge temps. Drive belt slippage!!! I suggest the 8-rib vortech pulley setup, reduces belt slippage immensly. The belt tensioner from Powerdyne is junk, it will bend or distort if you try to tighten the belt to much. Alot of people with bad units and even worse parts and service. O.k. this is my third post about this product in hopes to help somebody else that is/was in my shoes. If you have purchased, bought a car/truck with one already on it, or was given a powerdyne BD-11/BD-11A it CAN BE a good unit. But you must get it rebuilt or serviced by 928Motorsports.com out of Wisconsin. The pros must out weigh the cons if you decide to keep your powerdyne. The parts and service for the powerdyne can seem expensive but look at it this way does getting it fixed right the first time (or how ever many times you tried to get it fixed by somebody else) less expensive than purchasing a whole new supercharger setup, plus having to install it.

Weakness:
Recomend gettting it rebuilt by 928Motorsports.com. Does not produce as much boost as advertised, but is atainable with a little work. Drive belt slippage!!! I suggest the 8-rib vortech pulley setup, reduces belt slippage immensly. I give this product an overall 3.5 out of 5. Alot of people with bad units and worse parts and service. This is an update of my previous review, I have been using my powerdyne for 2.5 years now and just had my first problem. The internal belt finally decided to let loose on me. I have taken this car to the track at least 5 times and made multiple passes down the drag strip. If the internal belt was going to go it should have gone there at the strip with that hard shifting there. I have also recently installed a boost guage on the car. As i suspected the powerdyne does not produce as much boost as they claim. But since then i have sent it off to 928Motorsports.com for a rebuild. I opted for the "super powerdyne rebuild". A little on the expensive side but cheaper than buying a new supercharger. They install better high speed bearings pre-lubed with better higher temp synthetic grease, Put a new hardened steel impeller shaft, install thier own patented high speed billet impeller, and vent the case, and shim the impeller for better efficiency. took about 2.5 weeks for turn around. Got it back threw it in the car and went for a drive. I was impressed the supercharger brought boost in sooner (3,000 rpm) and pushed 6.7 psi with the same size pulley as before. Where as before the rebuild it was barley getting 4.5 psi. It does make a little more "turbine" noise while driving but no where near what most other superchargers do. If you have a loud exhaust on your car you wont even hear it. I am happy with the powerdyne with the "super powerdyne" rebuild on it from 928 Motorsports.com If you have a powerdyne and cant seem to get anything done right on it check out 928's website and give them a call they might change your mind. I am not here to tell you powerdyne is a superior product but i will say that with the right parts and service it can be a good peice of equipment for the money. If you want to run over the 12+ psi you might want to consider getting a gear driven supercharger such as procharger or vortech. But After the rebuild it will support 9-11 psi with the right pulley arrangement. |

K10526-201
Strength:
Quiet with no whine.
Weakness:
No cooler or denser air charge.
On August 11 of 2006, I installed Powerdyne's K10526-201 on my 2002 S10 Xtreme. This kit consists of JBA headers with gaskets, fuel management unit, plastic intake tubes, BOSCH bypass valve, crank pulley with spacer, serpentine belts, and the BD-600 supercharger with mounting brackets. As typical with Powerdyne, they shipped me the wrong headers; the ones for the C2500 Silverado which will not fit within the S10. After a long 4 week wait, the correct headers finally arrived. Once the install was completed, my S10 increased in horsepower from 151 to 235 at the rear wheels. On September 3 of 2007, shards of the inpeller fins were blown into my engine, destroying several cylinders! I replaced the Vortec V6 and of course, Powerdyne would not honor their warranty. So I dissembled the BD-600 myself to find that the tips of the impeller fins had been sheared off, the impeller shaft was bent, and the puny roller bearing on the impeller shaft was completely worn out. NEVER BUY A POWERDYNE! Similar Products Used: I have used nitrous oxide injection in the past with no problems. |
