Strength:

High quality and perfect bolt up. Looks too good to be under the car and sounds great but too loud for my taste. After thinking there was an exhaust leak and calling Thermal R & D several times to resolve, they are doing a free modification to drop noise by 5 decibels and take away some of the hum. Everyone else loves the sound of the system.

Weakness:

Too loud for my taste but I like a quiet system. Not a problem since they will be fixing it for free.

Definitely recommend but only to those who want a loud, to be noticed system; which are most folks looking for performance exhaust system. I love the nice, quiet systems like RS*R and Apexi WS, or HKS. Can't beat the quality and finish of Thermal R & D.

Similar Products Used:

Bought HKS and RS*R but those are aluminized steel and don't last nearly as long as pure stainless steel system. Japanese systems have my sound taste, quiet but effective.

Strength:

it's made from 100% stainless steel and that important unless you want to buy a new exhaust every year it sound so good at less than half idle it's as quite as stock soi can sneek up on people but when i get on it yo know what up. it doesn't sound like a weed-wacker it's very-deep. it only took 20 min to install

Weakness:

the only thing i don't like about the exhaust is that it has to be stuck under my car all the time it looks to good to be thier.

it's the best exhaust for performance that i've seen. it sound great and look good. it fits like a stock exhaust.

i had a custom exhaust and it sounded like crap and rust. thermal is the best exhaust i've heard i've had so many compliments on it

Strength:

Sweet catback exhaust system. full STAINLESS STEAL. I love the sound of it...... A Real Deep Deep tone... NOT like those high pitched street bike sounding exhausts. Felt a little gain ... need a cold air intake to push more air into my engine.
Sounds good at idle, but great at full throtle Sets many alarms off ;)

Weakness:

price..480... but what do you want.. most catback systems are 400-600, and its full stainless steal, so i can't argue really. Sound was a little anoying at first when i just was tryin to cruise... but i have gotten used to it

I would definatly recomend this product to anyone who wants a GOOD soundin exhaust....
The only pain was getting the bolts off the stock system... i got a couple of them off but i couldn't get the cat-bolts to come off...i finally got so frustrated i had a muffler shop weld the bolts off and put the whole system on for $50... So all and all i paid $530.

Hope this review helped................... Greg

Just Stock..... well i had a hole in my piping in my stock system, and it sounded like SH.. so it was time to get a catback exhaust.... STOCK is nothing like the Thermal R&D

Model Reviewed: Used on a 91 Eclipse

Strength:

Noticable power increase, great sound, easy installation, and good looks.

Weakness:

None, except for the high price tag.

After driving my Eclipse GSX with the stock exhaust system for over a year, I decided to step up to the plate and install an aftermarket kit. My requirements.... good sound - not too obnoxious, good looks with no large than a 4" tip, and good power increase. This kit met all my requirements and puts a smile on my face everytime I drive the car. My Eclipse is factory turbocharged so it sounds great at higher RPMs when the power kicks in. I must say I'm extremely happy with this system.

I would recommend doing lots of research when choosing an exhaust system. Make sure you talk with people who have a similar make/model as you since exhaust systems don't necessarily perform the same on different vehicles.

Strength:

the exhaust has a really sweet deep sound, and makes 400+ hp sound like it should, mean!. there is no raspy noises or back pressure rattle that I often hear from other products. I was also pleased with the size of the tip it was not ridiculously big but it has intimidating size.

Weakness:

There is nothing about this exhaust that is weak except the competition

I recently did a big motor upgrade with my 91 Eagle Talon TSi. I added just over 200hp!!. So I needed a good dependable exhaust, but it had to have a good deep sound with reasonable power and a nice air flow. After researching several different companies I felt that THERMAL could provide the best product for me. I was very impressed with the quality that I recieved from the product. It sounds really sweet coming from a 400+ hp car, nothing raspy or obnoxious about it. Since I have bought my exhaust other guys in my car club have sparked interest and bought the name as well. I wouldn't recommend anything else.

THERMAL out performs the previous exhaust that I had on my Talon which was after market as well, it makes it look K-Mart quality.

Well i am up and running with a great looking and sounding cat back.
The People at thermal R&D were great to deal with. In fact they went out of there way to help me. Even after i trash talked them in an earlyer review.

Weakness:

None

Well some time ago i gave a bad review to this cat back set up. I had a hanger rip out, and in frustration i vented on this web site.
Well the people at thermal must have read my review because they contacted me. I did not know there was a very good warranty on the exhaust. Well they sent me a new cat back and i am now very happy. They told me it was very unusual that my exhaust hanger failed this way they have never seen it before. And they stand by there products 100%

The fit and finish is better than anyting i have ever seen on a high performance exhaust.

Sounds great, even better with intake. I can imagine better than that with headers and a high flow cat. Easy fit and great quality. Polishes to a nice shine and looks good.

Strength:

Fully stainless, awesome sound, decent price, not annoying like the buzz-saw exhausts.

Weakness:

For some people this exhaust might not be loud enough, but I think it's perfect for me. I think from inside the car this exhaust sounds louder than it really is. It's got a VERY deep tone to it and is definatley noticeable from the inside of the car, but not really as loud as you think when you hear it from the outside.

I love this exhaust! I got the 2.25" STEALTH version and it sounds really nice. It has a really deep performance sounding growl to it and is not offensive at all to the people around you. It has a small anti-reversion cone at the end of the muffler that makes it a stealth. I would imagine the classic version would be a little higher pitched and would flow a little better. But if you plan on going all motor and want to keep some low-end power this exhaust would be my #1 choice. I'm running a JRSC and I bought this exhaust because I wanted my car to be a sleeper, but that stock exhaust had to go! I did notice a difference; the car reves a lot more freely now.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to stock exhaust; they call that thing an exhaust???
5zigen fireball; the firball is louder outside but not from inside and the fireball releaves even more backpressure. But it isn't stainless and I don't think sounds as nice.
Tanabe Racing Medallion; buzzsaw exhaust, sounds loud as hell from inside and outside. I'm sure this exhaust would be better performance wise for forced induction but it's way to loud for my taste.

Looks, tone and slight horse power increase noticeable with a CAI.

Weakness:

Sound can get annoying on those days when you're feeling like crap.

Some old lunatik rear ended me with his beat up Toyota and drove my muffler well under the car. It was time to get a new one! Preferably a decent priced cat back exhaust system. I heard this exhaust on a 4th gen lude and I loved it, a deep throaty tone. Unlike some of the exhausts that sound like they're farting. Moreover it looks meaner w/ the 2.25" stainless steel tips when compared to stock. I only paid the price difference from the stock exhaust system.

thermal systems can get more pricey. but i guess you get what you pay for

the exhaust is great. i have had an hks and greddy before and i can say that the thermal is amongst the best of quality. i had a couple of scratches on the bottom but when i called rollhard and thermal they took care of it right away. i was sent a new one. the exhaust has been on there for almost 2 years now and have had no problems. throttle response and pick has been inproved also. thas strange that jamie has a ngeative note about the thermal. all my friends got thermals after i got mine and we all love them. you must have done something to that muffler for you to have that many problems.
