Strength:
No ricy cannister, stealthy tip (you can tell it's not stock, but it's not huge like most of them are), stealthy sound-once it breaks in and the carbon is blown out, she is quiet-be sure to disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the ecu so the computer can readjust to the new air/fuel mixture, otherwise the ecu will try to compensate and won't take advantage of the exhaust right away...nice black powder coating (not cheap looking or feeling), big straight smoothly bent piping, huge oval stock-like cannister, beautiful chrome rolled tip with RS*R engraved on the sides-looks like a big stock tip, maybe 4 inches in diameter...definite midrange power gains, some say 10 hp gain in midrange, but at least 5 i'd say, a couple ponies gained in the upper end at least, if not more. no more downshifting on moderate hills in my civic ex, nice exhaust note-sounds like a low hum, this gets quieter as exhaust breaks-in; i've had it for a month and now it sounds pretty much how stock sounded before it rusted out...perfect complement to my aem shortram intake; now i can hear my intake sucking in air more, sometimes wonder if i should get the cold air intake to get more air in since the exhaust is so efficient...i put in a pacesetter monza high flow catalytic converter at the same time as this cat-back, so I don't know how it would have done with the stock restrictive cat converter, but i'd imagine it would limit the outflow potential at least as much as the stock restrictive exhaust manifold (which i still am running), i've heard the stock cat robs a lot of power and causes a lot of backpressure...i feel the rsr exmag provides the perfect amount of backpressure and free flow for my purposes (i use my car mainly for my daily half hour commute to school and to travel between Poughkeepsie and Albany once a week)...if you want some upperend gains AND midrange gains, a stealthy look and sound, a rare exhaust, full stainless piping and can, go for the RS*R ExMag.
Weakness:
chrome exhaust tip sticks out an inch or two beyond the lower bumper, but not past the top of the bumper; no directions (not that you really NEED them, though they would have come in handy, at least for reference); takes a good 3 weeks of solid driving to get all that carbon out, til then you'll be cleaning off the exhaust tip on a daily basis if you want it to look clean, plus it'll be a little loud during this break-in period(well at least if you have at least intake and either high flow cat or headers-i have intake and a hiflow cat); exhaust hangs a little bit lower than stock, but nothing to worry about unless your car is lowered; exmag isn't made for all cars yet; it is still quite rare; not sure why though, might be that it is not the cheapest exhaust out there; can't find it easily for under 500 bucks...it's all quality, though. This review is for the RS*R ExMag. This is a full cat-back exhaust system. I was going to buy an Apexi WS cat-back, but the store I ordered it from was out of stock, so I splurged for the RSR instead. Boy, did I pick the right exhaust, for my needs and wants at least. I put this exhaust on my 94 Civic EX 5 speed coupe. Similar Products Used: Stock-no comparison-very restrictive and no quieter |

Came with Magnaflow muffler. More power
Weakness:
comes in too many pieces resulting in leaks. I had it installed by a professional and they said they had a hard time getting it to fit. Got more power and better gas mileage. Eventually got some leaks, but replacing the RK Sport piping with a 2.25 one piece pipe. If you are going to buy an exhaust from RK Sport, don't by the catback. It sucks ass!!!!! Nice price, but you will end up forking over more cash getting it fixed. Similar Products Used: stock |

I love the way it gives the exhaust a much deeper tone...and i love the way the chrome tips look with my car...this system is for people who really want an exhaust with a real nice sound.
Weakness:
I have nothing bad to say about it...just plain love it. I just put it on yesterday (3/13/01) and i love it. My friends have all given me good comments and i haven't heard a bad one yet. I also love the way it "growls" at low rpm's and it is very quiet when at an idle, so when you start going it seems to "come alive." I also love the sound when I start my car and shut it off...this exhaust system makes the stock system look weak. Similar Products Used: Much better sounding than dynomax super turbo mufflers. |

Strength:
It gave me all the sound and H.P. I was looking for it looks damn good and improves the cars looks also.
Weakness:
Some fabrication involved.{Used to have single outlets and now has duelies $340, I would recommend it to anyone wanting their car to sound and look great. If your looking for quiet it's not this! Similar Products Used: Pacesetter, this system is alot better bang for your buck. |
