Ability to get loud and punchy. Probably one of the top 3 eight inch mobile audio sub-woofers ever made.

None that I can tell. I have the speakers in a ported box so I have not been able to judge the pure sound quality. Also the subs are in the trunk.

Yep, Just installed my new kicker s8l5 solo baric squares today in the maximum recommended ported enclosure (1 cubic foot + port). I'm driving the two eights with one of those new kx600.4 amps and I have a 150.2 running the highs (impressive sound quality). Well I must say, I had low expectations for the eights because my trunk is very well sealed off from the car's cabin (Acura Legend 95 sedan)... But the subs hit hard!!!! I venture to say they hit harder than any subs I have owned to date (granted I have been using 2nd rate subs like blaupunkt and atomics etc...) I have of course NOT broke the solos in yet so I'm hoping that is why they have not really "hurt" my ears yet like some kicker 12s I have heard, but they are definitely loud and low in the ported enclosure and I am very satisfied so far. The bass boost on the amp is only at about 30% too which is impressive because the box definitely has some bump around 30 to 40 hz.... I would highly recommend the kicker s8l5 or s8l7 subs plus at least 300 watts RMS to each sub and in the recommended SPL enclosure ... I will take some pictures and put them on sounddomain.com soon. These subs hit like 10's!!! I had a pair of polk db 12" subs in my other vehicle, but they would not fit in the Supercrew. The 8's sound awesome and fit in a box that is so small, it is completely hidden under the seat. I don't even miss the 12's!!!
