Kenwood Execlon db 12in
Strength:
Great price, Tight pounding bass.
Weakness:
The sub has a Mid sized magnet,It's big but not as big as it could be. I bought these subs along with a Kenwood Execlon 401-M amp for only $350, he was seriously in need for money. I didnt really know what to expect from these subs but once I installed them in my 93 ford bronco and adjusted the amp I was more then impresseed. The sub has a 1000 watt peak power rating, The sub preforms Very well with various boxes but it is best in a sealed box Similar Products Used: Pioneer 12 Vccs, JL Audio W7 13.5, Soundstream Davinci 15 |

Strength:
extremely powerful clear bass and is sensitve enough to produce bass at the lowest volumes.
Weakness:
(only a weakness if you dont like pretty tight bass) Bass can get kinda tight with high amplifier power levels. Had bought some 10 subs and decided to go return them and buy the 12" version of that sub but when i was waiting at the counter, i heard the xw1225DBs in a display and omg they sounded sooo bad a** i just had to get those instead. so i put them in with a kenwood 401 mono block @1 ohm and they pound so hard that after a while it hurts my back (woofers are located behind the seat back and aimed forward against it). Great Bass excellent sound and accuracy, looks amazing and they are even cheap.
Weakness:
I havent found any weaknesses I have my 12 in a 83 buick regal t-type with a 600w kenwood amp and a KDC-7011 kenwood deck and that sub fill that huge, trunk, car with unbelievable bass and I havent heard it produce any of the distortion, clipping or popping sounds that others have put in there reviews. It is in a 1.5cf box with an 18" port. I am purchasing another db+ 12 tomarrow and this time putting it in a sealed box. In the fall I might buy 10 more of these and make a wall.I am really impressed with these subs and would recommend them to a serious competitor or even an amatuer. Similar Products Used: I've had kicker 12" XPL's, Alpine VR 12's and the db+ smokes them. One of my friends have 2 fosgate 12's and another has 4 kenwood 10" tornado's and my single db+ puts them to shame. but my stepdad had 4 12" solobarics with 2 fosgate 250's and they made mine sound stupid |

Strength:
Loud, Hard, Bass.
Weakness:
In the wrong enclosure, it can sound bad. First tried it in a medium sized enclosure filled with polyfill and It sounded really bad with lots of distortion. Then I took out the polyfill and it sound better. Then I went and made a small enclosure with 3/4 HDF and it just sounds great. It hits punchy, hard, loud, it just rocks. pretty loud and acurate, efficent.
Weakness:
200 rms? that kills the whole sub. great subs for what it is, but simply not enough for me. I hate JL audio with a passion so I won't even compare to it. I had the sub to an infinity beta 100(400 rms) that I got for cheap. The surrounding ripped off after a few hours so I returned for a new one. And I tried again for about half and hour, the damn-thing begin to distort at not very high level with a 150 watt amp. I mean, what a piece. Similar Products Used: ah, I'm going for the more expensive subs now. |

Kenwood XW12DB
Strength:
They hit hard and deep at the same time.
Weakness:
CHEAP. Considering the subs run for a retail of $200 each, they sound cheap. I was running 2 12's in a dull bandpass enclousure. It thumped and hit hard for a while. I was running them off of an exceleon PS-500F amp bridged (300x2 RMS) and I blew them both up. I got remanufactured new ones quickly with free shipping which made me happy and I tried out some medium size sealed enclousers. They sounded horrible. They distorted like crazy even with polyfill and wood thicknesses of about 1 inch. I got a package price for a dual bandpass enclosure and 2 XW12DB subs for $400 so I can't exactly complain about performance because that's extremely cheap. They sounded EXCEPTIONALLY well and I would ONLY recommend use in a bandpass enclousure because they sound as though they're "popping" in any other. For a bandpass subwoofer they hit hard and DEEP at the same time. I would recommend them for rock music but NOT dance or rap (which i listened to). It sounded as though they couldn't hold up to the deep bass that I needed. After hearing ONE Infinity Kappa I was depressed that I spent so much money on two cubwoofers that couldn't even compete. Good Luck in choseing a subwoofer that fits your needs Similar Products Used: Infinity Perfect 12.1, Infinity Kappa 12, Rockford Punch Power 12 DVC |

Strength:
I thinks that is has potenetial if run at the right wattage (not the RMS). It does have good value and decent sound.
Weakness:
I find that they distort really easy and they are overated usually by about two times the real RMS. They also need huge huge amounts of space to sound good. I have seen it aplied in a 99 hundi sport with just a massive box and a kenwood 600 watt amp. It sounded pretty good but when turned up it distorted really bad. If you want a little bit of bass added into your music and you've got the space and a tight budget these are the speakers for you, however if you have even an extra 20 bucks get clarions or MTX's and save your ears from the distortion. Similar Products Used: I have to say that kenwood subs in general are cheap and provide decent bass but in comparison with clarion's and MTX's they fall like water. I upgraded to clarions as soon as I could |
