Strength:

Good looking, sounds great, but does distort a big at high volumes.....STILL HITS HARD THOUGH

Weakness:

Not enough power in the sub for my amp to push.

These are AWESOME subs i have to say for a box, amp, these two kenwood 12" subs i paid $75 and i just got a new MA Audio amp which is a 1200 watt mono block amp which if wired at 2ohms 1200 watts rms. I have it wired at 4ohms which would make it 300rms per sub and these things shake everything on my jeep cherokee. Pretty powerful subs but this bass makes me want even more although im already losing my hearing. BIG fan of these. i have these 2 12" subs in a 1.44cu ft sealed box. GREAT SUBS

Strength:

hard hitting, crisp in small sealed box

Weakness:

broke up at high volume levels in large boxes

i had these subs in truck boxes in a s10 and in a bandpass in a cav z24. I thought for the money they were worth it. Definately sounded better in the truck. They need to have a higher rms rating. i was pushing about 300 watts to each and they didn't blow. I hit 143.5 db's in a small truck box and 138.6 db's in a dual bandpass quad port box. Definately hit hard and had no trouble with rattling everything around.

Strength:

looks, abuse, and sound with right equiptment

Weakness:

too many idiots bought this sub and put it in a bandpass.

it seems that these subs have a bad rap for people putting them in crappy boxes. 1. don't put in a bandpass. duh.......2. sealed boxes bring distortion to this sub unless it is outlined with insulation. 3. open port 1.5 inches sounds the best with a kenwood sub amp. stereo amps sound crappy with these subs. need at least 1.5 cubic feet in box. use big wires. if you do it correctly these subs will outperform all alpine and most mtx subs on the same level. compares close to rockford fosgate. (not z series)

Strength:

At Low volume, bass is the best i have ever heard from a non competition sub.

Weakness:

Disapointing high volume tolerance of low freqs - creates distortion.

Decent sub, good entry level subwoofer. Its no competition one, so i dont know why these people are comparing them to MTX and Alpine. I own 2 of them and they do the job easily, running them at 160w RMS each on my amps. When the settings are correct, and headunit bass levels adjusted depending on volume, these subs bump heavily and crisply without distortion. Kills pioneers in the same rank, easily kills sony. Alpine kills this sub though - duh!

Good looks, kick at low volume

Weakness:

distortion

I bought 2 12" Kenwood subs KFC-W3003's in a quad ported bandpass competition box with a Kenwood 600Watt amp. As far as I am concerned, I think they were a waste. They sound good at low volumes, but distort at high volumes.(even with the gain turned down and the bass on my head unit down) They just didn't seem to have the kick I wanted, so I went to Stroker subs instead. I now have 3 15" stroker subs in my Toyota 4Runner, with a 2500watt amp puching them. Much happier. It's now to the point that I have to put the windows down when I listen to it loud otherwise I'll pop out the back window or the windsheild.(learned that the hard way)

Model Reviewed: 2001 Kenwood KFC-W2505

Strength:

Looks, Sound Quality and good volume with nominal power.

Weakness:

Power handling, Separation of surround from basket after less than year (Shop also noted other instances)Also very poor in small enclosures

Purchased 2 of these with a Kenwood 600Watt Amp.(More like 150 X 2 RMS) Put in a sealed enclosure (1 Cubic foot per driver and poly) Very disappointed but was clean. Did not handle power very well at all. After the 1 year I removed the box to clean under and check everything out and found that the surround had come loose from the basket. Took into the shop where I purchased and they let me know that this happened quite abit. (huh???) Their solution was to epoxy these back. Being a perfectionist I didnt like this answer and bought a Kicker Comp VR and put it in a 1.25 Cubic foot box and bridged the Kenwood amp (around 300 watts). I am much more satisfied with the one Comp than the 2 Kenwoods. The Comp handles the power wonderfully (could take a little more)goes lower and definately have more excursion (ie louder) Not the end of the story for the Kenwoods. My brother-in law wanted a small sub. I built a box with 1.55 cubic foot of airspace and put the Kenwood in it. It sounded much better. Went lower and more accurate. Also was powered by a Kenwood 250 Watt amp (Around 100 watts bridged rms) didnt even come close to the Kicker but wasgreat for what the BIL was looking for. PS all enclosures were sealed. I did hear some cone noise as others heard but only at extreme levels (I am not a bass head, rather looked for accuracy and not loud levels) Overall I was not estatic with these and I got what I paid for.
