If you port it right it can go LOW!

Wow, this sub is great for subsonics. I overboxed one in a 2.5 cu ft box and tuned the port to 19 Hz. I listen mostly to Drum and Bass n Techno, so the bass has to be fast and LOW. I used to run a Rockford 15 in an 18 Hz ported box, but I needed trunk space. So I tried the Kenwood 10 and it gets to within 3 dB of the Rockford 15 - 122 dB at 21Hz!! From only 1 ten inch! This is a mad good sub!

Loud, tight, and if you box it right very low - 18Hz low!

Weakness:

I got the last one from the store, it was their demo display model.

Strength:

-Good response -Dirt cheap -Can use very small enclosures

Weakness:

-Tends to bottom out - I was running an Excelon X201T and they seemed to run out of room to travel due to their low X factor. I wound suggest spraying the inside of an MDF box (or even prefab) with fiberglass resin to reduce the porous character of the wood. -Does not preform well in upper bass range - probably somewhere 100 to 120 - I would suggest a crossover to send these fqs to the mids.

These were stolen out of my truck with my amp, but I guess the jerks liked what they heard. For the price, these subs can't be beat. The RF Punch's sound like crap, and so do the Lightning and MTX subs around the same price. The response is fairly good, and sound quality is excellent.

Strength:

Affordable, attractive, good sound quality. Frequency range up to 800Hz also makes them versatile.

Weakness:

You need to lay down the cash or the time for the proper enclosure to get the most of these subs. Take the time to break them in (20 hours) at low volume.

If you know how to install a system, these subs are really incredible for the price. Mine are hooked up to a Profile California 400SX (100 watts per channel) and I can only imagine how much better they would sound if I had more power going to them. The important thing to remember is that you need a sealed enclosure with 1.0 cubes for each sub. Originally I had these in a small ported box I got at a pawn shop, and they sounded terrible, but now that I have a Q-Logic Type 2 enclosure they sound incredible. The SPL is certainly not competition level, but it can be heard coming down the street, and the sound quality is impressive. I don''t know why they discontinued this model, it seems about perfect for the sound mechanic on a budget.

Strength:

very cheap

Weakness:

they rattle they have no bass they are not meant for everybody they are only meant for small enclosers and small cars they are not worth it

Look I got one thing to say about these subs, they are really bad subs. I read these reviews saying how they are good, but they arent. For anybody who is serious about getting good subs that wont blow out and wont shake these are really bad subs. If you are a beginer at this, you might consider buying these if you can get a two for one sale and somebody installs them for free. Else save your money and get some Alpines or Rockford HE''s.

Strength:

This sub really tickled me at first. I was running it on a Kenwood 728S amp because that is what people recommended. They do sound fairly good, but the bass just isn't very clean.

Weakness:

Kick drums don't sound all that great. They just make thumping sounds in some situations. Heavy bass also tends to distort.

My dad has the tornado 12's and they sound a lot better on the 728S amp that I had and the JBL 600.1 amp that I have now. These subs are pretty good, but if you take music really seriously, go for something else. They were worth the money though because they were only $60 apiece.

Hits on everything every song and beat.

Weakness:

none off the top of my head

These subs hit harder than most 12's ive heard and better than 4 jl audio 10's. im running a kicker 240 to it and it pushes them real hard. they hit about as much as 2 of the mtx 6000's with the same amp run to them. and sound the best with an un ported box. my car is slowly falling apart from the bass hurts to sit in the back seat of my car.
