Good bass response, even in lower ranges. Work in smaller enclosures. Efficient in power requirement.

If you already have a strong amp for subs, you may way over power them.

I had heard JL Audio was a fairly solid choice for subs, and the 8W3 was recommended for the Z3Bass (now RoadsterSound) enclosure, so I picked up this box to harvest subs for our roadster. It arrived and the carpet on the box matched my car color, and it fit well in my trunk. Initilally it was wired in series for 4 ohm, and I had an old MTX Blue Thunder 752 running it, bridged mono (280+ watts), which was way to much. I converted it to dual wiring at 2 ohm each. Wired in series, it was impressive, albeit overpowered. The tuning range was very limited. Since going to individual wiring, I've had greater flexibility, running probably in excess of 150w each. They have surprising bass response for their size, and I'm frequently chastized by the wife for too much bass. It's not rediculous, but a nice compliment to the music in the otherwise stock H/K system (so far). Overall, I would say it's a solid choice for clean, accurate bass in a small enclosure, but plan to power with a fairly mild amp. I'm still overpowered, but better than before. My recommendation: about 125w at 4 ohm.
