Strength:

Very tough. Play loud with little power. Drop REAL low.

Weakness:

Don't do well in very small boxes.

I bought 2-10" JBL GTOs,Clarion 200watt mono amp,and a sealed box with my first credit card. What a mistake (not the stereo, the credit card!)I was completly sold on JBL.I had them in a '88 TransAm and the bass was so clean and tight.I ended up putting them behind the seats of my Fiero in fiberglass boxes built in the firewall. It never sounded as good as the T/A because they didn't have much air space and I eventually blew them. They got stolen along with my amp and CD player. So they got some blown 10's HAHA.I highly recomend anything JBL.My old JL Audio 12's didn't come close to JBL's.

Strength:

Hit hard, yet do so with control and a smooth roll off. Never sound overly boomy, very accurate (well, as accurate as you can get from a trunk). Mad power handling, great spl, and are affordably priced.

Weakness:

Need a big amp to drive them properly, but other than that, nothing else at all. They're Jbl's, they don't have weaknesses! lol!

I had a 8" Bazooka in the trunk of my car, but I wasn't satisfied with the spl and low extension of the bass inside my car. I ended up selling it and buying a sealed box that holds two 10's in it, and has about .75 cu ft per driver inside. I had to get a set of subs to put in it, and since I already have Jbl front and rear speakers, I figured It'd be cool to have the subs to match up to them. I decided on the GTO series 10's because they're an excellent price, very accurate, very deep, and hit hard. They are also extremely smooth too. My only problem is, I've got a little Clarion amp putting 75watts rms into each of them, so they basically don't even move unless I crank the gain up to half or more, and the sub out on my deck to +4 to +6. I can't wait to see what the subs can do after being broken in, and especially after I put a bigger amp on them. So far, I'm extremely impressed with the GT1041's, in every way. I found that with some types of music, they sound louder than with others, and that the mid-bass response isn't as powerful sounding as the lows (below 40hz). One song that sounds phenominal on these subs is the moby remix of "Spin Spin Sugah" and "6 Underground". These subs kick hard on anything I throw at them, and I'd reccomend them to anybody who wants entry level competition grade subs for a good price. BTW, from what I've experienced from these subs so far, there's nothing entry level about them...

Strength:

STRONG. sound awesome and hit hella-low. my 2 tens hit 149.4dB.

Weakness:

you really gotta have the right size sealed box to make these not sound like crap at high power levels

When I bought these, i didn''t even have a car. i bought 1 of these 10''s and a single sub bandpass box. i was knocking off pictures on the otherside of the house. My mom got pissed and finally bought me a car. i had 2 of them in my sunbird and my taillight popped off on day going down the road. i was pushing them with a pheonix gold 1400watt amp and they never ever popped or snapped. tough subs that sound damn near perfect

Strength:

They hit harder than other subs that I have had (Rockford Fosgate Punch 12's, Impulse s 1065, MTX 6000 10's. They are also more accurate and go just as deep as the 12's. They an take a beating

Weakness:

Could hit a little harder

If you are looking for an accurate sub woofer that hits low notes this is it. They do hit hard but not as hard as I though they would, but that not why I bought them. They can take the wattage if you are willing to dish it out. Overall good subs.

Strength:

Good SQ, Go very low for 10s

Weakness:

Get a little mushy at high volumes

In the proper box, these subs aren't beat by many. I run them in an Isobaric box that runs at 2ohms. I'm pushing them without 900 watts RMS, and they sound pretty damn good. I had some older JBL GT DVC's from a few years back and those were very nice. The new model hits quite a bit harder. Larger magnets help, and the rubber surround is nice, foam gives out after time (what happened to my old GT's) These subs are great for the price you pay. Rockford has some great products (amps) but there are companies out there that have way better subs. The specs on these subs are very comparable to a Rockford Power DVC, if you compare the thiele parameters. These subs are worth the buy!

Strength:

nice speaker for banpass boxes, they thump hard and take the abuse, they sound clear and hit pretty hard

Weakness:

the only thing they are good for are is bandpass boxes, as for the price you can find other speakers that out prefrom them at 1/2 the price..

if you are going to use a banpass box these are sweet, but far as prefromance outside of a bandpass box .. they are not worth the cash..

Strength:

This is an all around good sub...... cost.....(got it from a friends shop)
farely durable

Weakness:

Could hit harder.....limitations for what your using it for...

I have been beating the crap out of them and they still sound decent...not for competion and and really hard bass heads but they seem to be holding themselves well......Im replacing them because Im looking for something that will hit harder and hold itself better...but for the money I cant complain..........They're not really Junk but Loud afterall....

Strength:

Inexpensive, hit hard for the price and size,

Weakness:

Inaccurate at high SPLs

I bought these at the end of a model year, as far as I know the only changes have been cosmetic.
I have one of these in .8 ft^3 sealed box in my extended cab Sonoma. While I a not going to win any SPL comps, it produces a nice tight, clean sound that is extremely satisfying. It took quite a bit of tuning in because this sub seems to be a bit boomy at the upper extreme of its range. (This is made worse by the acoustics of my cab) I have it mated to a MTX Thunder152 using only one of the subs voice coils.
While the JBL tend to get a bit inaccurate when you really start to push toward its upper limit, it never complains physically. I have pushed the hell out of mine for a year and it still sounds as good as the day I hooked it up. If you can find one for the right price and just want clean, loud music (not rattle the neighborhood loud, however) pick one of these up. If you can afford more, go with a competition level sub.

Strength:

Can take just about what ever you can dish out, power wise. I have 2 hooked up to a 700 watt amp in series, I'll probably change to parallel (reducing the impedance "seen" by the amp)to see if they can give me even more bass.

Weakness:

A bit "bassy" at upper extreme limit of subs, sometimes inaccurate bass above this limit.

These are very nice speakers for the money I paid. I bought them brand new 2 years ago to add a little bass to my car and got more than I bargained for. These things thump like 12's. I have them in a sealed box and my trunk rattles bad.

For the price can't be beat, but if you want to compete dish out the cash for spl subs.
