Cerwin Vega Stroker 18
Strength:
Loud, even when i''m only running 50 to 75 true watts.
Weakness:
No sq, No low bass, extremely large box, oh yeah, to all of you who spend 200+ on boxes I can get them for you for cheap. go to http://www.geocities.com/dandmenclosures Very expensive, i mean come on, cv''s suggested price is 800!! i could get my car filled with awesome stuff for that much. My 3 inch computer subwoofer will literally play better and lower than this subwoofer will. Ok, low is not 30 da** htz. Low is what my little polk gnx 12 plays, 18 htz. I give this subwoofer that it will play hella loud but sq sucks so bad that i could sing better bass, frequency sucks so bad it is being beat by a 12 inch woofer. This thing is extremely loud though. I am only running a jensen 400 watt amp. I am bridging it to run "200" watts to each voice coil. Now, to all of you idiots out there that are like holy sh** 1000 watts, IT''S NOT POSSIBLE TO RUN MORE THAN 400 WATTS ON A FACTORY ALTERNATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON''T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS I''VE TALKED TO AN ELECTRICIAN AND A NORMAL ALTERNATOR RUNS AT 40 AMP. 400 WATT IS 40 AMP SO THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO GET MORE THAN 400 WATTS WITHOUT A HIGHER AMPERAGE ALTERNATOR. Ok now, after all of that, tehnically i am running at a maximum of oh say.... 50 to 75 watts. This thing will really thump with the true wattage of my amp. So....... this speaker really sucks, get a new jl audio if you want spl and sq, or even better get a 15 inch Alpine, those things are the best i''ve ever heard. ONLY BUY THIS THING IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN !!!!!!COMPETITION!!!!!!! THIS THING WILL NOT PLAY GOOD BASS!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: Heard some alpine 15''s best in the world. jl audio 15 w3, loud good sound only when broken in after the 100 hours needed. Polk 12 gnx not loud but plays hella low and right out of the box. |

It's as loud as you could ever want it to be. It lasts for a long time if user properly. (You cant break it with non distortioned power)
Weakness:
It wasn't problem to me, but I can imagine it doesnt fit to anyones enclosure needs.. (180L) i paid from other about 420$ and from other one about 280$. I bought 'em used. Now installing them to my old Volvo 343. And while i got only the other one, and drove it with 600Watts RMS. It was a real stroker! I would recommend it to anybody, who doesn't mind if sub takes whole trunk and want's a LOT bass! Similar Products Used: I can't compare it to anything else i've heard. |

LOUD, POOH PACKIN' BASS!! Load abit of Drum & Bass into the compact disc player, run that thru a custom made 3Kw (AES) Mos-fet Amp & your DEAD!!! Bass is so loud it truly hurts! DONT PLAY LOUD after eating! You will be ill!!
Weakness:
Sloppy! DONT run more than 2Kw through it! It will pop! THIS IS MY SECOND ONE!! The cone surrounds ripped, but the coil survived. Need to redesign the cone so it move further and handles lower notes! Its UGLY!! Needs a face lift!! Huge Box, ive got a costom made folded horn BASS BIN (as described in Eminences- "High power audio designs" book), in a British high top Ford Transit van. If you gotta lot of dolla & alot of space BUY ONE (or several- IF YOUR BRAVE ENOUGH!!). Has its faults, but so does everything humans build. Engineering masterpiece! Taste BASS!!! Similar Products Used: Eminence 18" Kilomax Disco powerspeakers! Two of them in parrallel is about the same as "one Stroker"! |

Hard, loud, and low hitting bass. Ground moving!
Weakness:
Not good for daily driving. Box too big. Power, lots of power! Low hard bass. I had a fosgate hx2 18" and it isn't has hard hitting and low hitting as the stroker. This is a beast of its own. Set off car alarms from 150 ft away just with one note lower than 40 hz. Competition or just wanting to impress people at school parking lots, like me. 18" SVC stroker in '98 Dakota Ext Cab
Strength:
This sub POUNDS. The 18 has phenomenal low bass (when the box is tuned correctly)
Weakness:
It takes alot of power and if you really wanna make this to use full potential Say goodbye to your hatch/backseat area or extended cab. I've used strokers quite a bit in competition and if you want this thing to Get the meter going go for a BIG ASS BOX. I was using a single Stroker 18 with a modified Cadence amplifier (doing around 1,800 watts RMS unclipped) and I was doing consisten 150.0's in the kick. (Remember that 18's do NOT pressure for crap especially at 20-40hz, they are just LOUD as hell to the ear) I had it in a 10 cubic foot enclosure with 700 cubic inches of port (10"x10"x7" deep) it was tuned to 37 hz and it is a TRUE groundpounder. Everyone says strokers are sloppy. Well this is True if you put them in an SPL enclosure. I know a guy that wins triple point SOUND QUALITY shows with a single stroker 18" and Cerwin Vega components up front. It all depends on what you want. And as for the guy that said he has 6 stroker 15"s and is only doin a 162...sorry bro get rid of a few of those and put like 4 of them in HUGE box and you will have less subs, lower power class and Bigger numbers on the meter. Similar Products Used: Digital Designs 9500 series 18" They are both about the same...The DD can handle more power but the stroker is just straight up so ugly that it's cool. |
