1992-3 Bazooka T62 passive sub
Strength:
Quite compact, efficient, cheap, and easy to install. Produces excellent loud deep bass. Does what a sub is supposed to do, produces a punchy bass you can feel in the vehicle. Has been trouble-free for 7 years.
Weakness:
Quite compact, but still requires considerable mounting space. (Can't they make these tubes a little shorter?) However, they can be easily demounted from the vehicle. Requires amplification. I recommend the T-62 passive tubes for use inside a pickup truck, small SUV, station wagon or hatchback vehicle, and only if you have a separate amp to drive them. I've used one T-62 for over 7 years in 3 such vehicles with 70-150 Hz passive low pass filters (F-mods) before the amp (a 1987 Punch-45 mono-bridged). The T62 can also be used in enclosed trunks to produce a (deeper?) more spatial effect, but personally I think subs in enclosed trunks are a very annoying source of noise pollution. I use subs to kick up the lower notes of the music (electric and acoustic basses, bass drums, etc.) to faithfully reproduce a small club setting in my vehicle. I don't use them to win disturb the neighborhood contests. Similar Products Used: First and only subs I've personally used. However, they compare well (at least for the way I use them) with the omnipresent large rectangular boxes. |

Strength:
Extremely small footprint, while providing decent bass for its size.
Weakness:
No weaknesses, it does what it's supposed to! I bought this as an older stock item from a dealer that closed his shop year ago. I paid only $90 so I bought it on a whim. It is the only sub I would be able to fit in my 2000 Honda Insight (yes, it's the gas/electric hybrid :) without blocking my storage area underneath my hatchback. Similar Products Used: Best 6.5" or smaller bass unit I've heard. |
