Amplified EL 8 inch
Strength:
Amazing bass for the price
Weakness:
Moves around alot unless you have a strap for it. which is included Increased Bass dramatically, it's pre- amplified saving money for those who are on budget, however the bazooka is only 50 watts (which does not matter) because of the way the tubes are made and woofers are designed, it doesn't require alot of power to create good sound. Subwoofer has never clipped or cracked on me even though I tend to put it loud. Even though it is 8 inches its really impressive It has alot of punch, thats the benefit of this design. Don't let the 50 watts fool you unless you step up to the EL-8HP which has 100 watts. Similar Products Used: Pioneer 10 inch sub |

Strength:
Sound, range, durability, easily moved, easy to install, easy to hide.
Weakness:
Zero... Sounds like there's some true stereo nerds out here, and I can't compare my knowledge to theirs about watts, ohms, blah blah blah. But I do know how to install my own stuff, and know that I was on a strict budget for my car stereo system. A long time back, I was very impressed with a friend of mine's system in which he had a single 8" 4 ohm bazooka tube, but was about twice as long as the regular tube that's out now. This thing hit like crazy, to me at least, and it was in the trunk of a 4 door compact. Anyway, I ran out and bought one, which I had hooked up to a profile 60 watt high pass amp, which I put a low pass voice coil on. I think it has great range and great response for the money. I've heard some systems that have more power with 10's and twelve's in them that don't sound nearly as good, and they've spent triple the money I have into mine. Another thing I love about these tubes, is the durability. I've moved this tube to 3 different cars in past years, one of them being a toyota 4x4 truck, that I used to beat the hell out of offroad. This tube slammed around, and banged against a lot metal in it's years of service and still sounds like it just came out of the box. In the future, when and if this tube finally blows, I'll be down at the nearest bazooka tube dealer buying another one that same day. |

Strength:
Compact, light-weight, easy install, excellent sq and loudness for a 8" bass-tube.
Weakness:
Not up to par with larger box subs. A little expensive. There are too many cheaper bass-tubes out there. I was looking for something as light ans small as possible due to limited boot space. For something so small, it pack quite a wallop. Although not as low or hard as some larger boxed subs, it is on par or better than just about other bass-tube. It is hooked to the subwoofer channel of my 5ch Rodek 5750 amp at 150wrms at 4 ohms. I guess for my purpose it is quite good as I am not a huge bass addict. Similar Products Used: none. |

Strength:
Very smooth bass, tight response, excellent low-end extension for an 8", and sheer SQ. These things are clean clean clean!
Weakness:
Not very suitable for SPL or DB Drag racing (Unless you have like 8 or more of them). Woofers don't hold up to high abuse with cheap amplifiers running them. Hmmm, I can't understand why the Bazookas don't get higher regard. I've owned 3 pairs of Bazooka Tubes so far, one 6.5" pair, and two pairs of 8's. I've run them all off different amplifiers (I had all slave model tubes), and I found that they sound their best with a decent amount of power going into them. Originally, I ran them off a Sony amplifier, but it constantly clipped and eventually blew the voice coils in my tubes. I currently have two 8" tubes being powered off of a JBL GTS300 amplifier which supplies each tube more than 100 watts clean at 12 volts, and more than 150 RMS at 14.4 ( the power ratings of JBL amps are underrated). I've always liked Bazookas because they have an ability to go pretty low, thump, and most of all, the SQ. Granted, a properly designed and tuned cabinet with seperate subs will usually play a bit louder and harder than tubes, but they simply can't match the smoothness of the tubes. I've always liked 8" subs the most because they are cleaner and tighter than big subs, and the low bass extension is pretty decent too. As far as I'm concerned, you can get clean, tight, and pretty loud bass out of tubes, and you don't have to spend an insane amount of money to buy them. I plan to be a repeat customer of Bazooka Tubes in the future. |

I do think that this is a good option for cheap and easy bass. Since everybody has already good stuff about Bazooka, maybe I should point out some of its faults. |

Good average passive subwoofer for the price. It is not really a subwoofer however. A true sub extends below 40 hz with enough levels to put out. The bazooka is boomy at 50Hz (in car response). Output drops considerably below 50hz. There is too little output at frequencies between 40-49hz. There is some usable output at 30-35hz. |

I'd just like to say a few things about this product. This is a great subwoofer. I have heard alot of subs (Kicker,Kenwood,Pioneer,Fosgate and more) and none are as accurate and detailed as the Bazooka, besides the (Kicker solo-baric very good sub, 5 star) The Bazooka is also extremly efficient (102db for the 8) and needs about 10-25 watts to get good sound where these other brands need about 50-150. Those other subs are going to need a pretty hefty amp. You don't need tons of watts to get big sound, I know a guy using two el804 giving them 70 watts total power and got a perfect RTA and posted 126db using all bazooka speakers at a sanctioned IASCA event. Bought a pair of 8" Bazookas (before they were called EL804's, though the specs are the same) a few years back and hooked them to a Sony XM-275 (75x2 RMS) amp. For the money, they performed superbly. Definitely a great first system. Sure, they aren't as tight as some other subs I've had since (like Solo-barics), and definitely don't hit anywhere as hard as my present system (Soundstream's SPL-160 15" off a Reference 700sx amp briged to 2 ohms) but they impressed the hell out of my teenage friends, working wonders in my Saab 900 sedan. When I was 16 I would've given them 10 stars; now I think they deserve a 4, based upon price/performance/ease of installation. |
