THESE SUBWOOFERS ARE (for lack of a better, more colorful word) FANTASTIC!!!
I always wanted a system for my car, and when I started doing research, I read something about a sub called the Aura Force 12. Once I had finished reading the review, I was sold.

I had heard my friends systems. Two words. Loud & Crap. They all had no idea what they were doing. It's not as simple as buying a couple of subs, an amp, and a box to put them in. Each speaker has it's own set of performance characteristics. To make a lame comparison, the Aura Force 12 is like the 32 valve V-8 in a Ferarri F-355. It's silky smooth when say driving normally, but once the pedal is stomped on and those 32 valves begin churning more and more air and fuel, well the best I could say is OH MY GOD!. Then there are Rockford Fosgates, which are more like an american made seventies-ish V-8. Lots of power, but it's raw, untamed, and uncivilized.

I have one Aura Force 12 in a 2.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure stuffed with polyfill. it's in the back of a 1986 VW Jetta GL. It's got a Qtc of about .707 (very flat and therefore the bass is very smooth/linear--the sound a true audiophile prefers). It's powered by a Sony XM-752X 2 channel amplifier bridged at 4 ohms. The built in crossover is at 100 hz. The deck I've got is a Sony CDX-4180 which has 40 watts by 4 max 17 rms which powers 2 JBL GTO-302 (3.5 in) and 2 JBL GTO-502 (5.25 in) speakers. The balance and clarity is amazing. I had no need to be felt or heard 2 miles away, I just wanted to enjoy my music.

By the way, this is my second Aura Force 12. The first one (as well as my first Sony XM-752X amp) got stollen. I guess someone else must have liked my sub more than me (otherwise my car wouldn't have been parked in front of my house that dreadful July night)

I just installed 6 Aura Force 12, powered each by 3 Autotek 400xi. They are incredible. I love them and recommend that anyone who wants a good subwoofer and doesn't want to lose alot of space to bask in the glory of the .88 cubic feet of space that these subwoofers take up. GREAT SUBS, AURA!!!!

I have two of these woofers in a smallish sealed enclosure in the back of my '92 Firebird, and I must say they are incredible. Kick drums are sharp, crisp, and loud, while synthesized bass is phat and low. If I were to use one word to describe their sound it would be, "Butter." Smoooth, eh? I originally had 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch 12's in the same box, and the Auras just blow them away in terms of sound quality and output, for only $20 more per speaker.

Model Reviewed: Aura Force 12

Strength:

Value, Sound quality.

Weakness:

Requires a large sealed enclosure.

A great sounding sub, especially for what I paid for it brand new. Used to have 10" MTX thunder 7000, and these subs are much tighter and clearer. They don't hit as hard as say MTX or Rockford, but are more musical, and can hit rock bottom with accuracy. Not as musical as IDQ or Nakamichi, but those also cost more. Aura force needs a large enclosure 1.5 - 2.0 cubic feet, which is rather large for a single 12 in a sealed box. If you're looking for musical subs that sound great, then AURA Force would be the choice. If you're looking for loud thuds and drones and entering an SPL competition, then look at other subs. Don't expect any loud distorted sound with these subs, just low, clear musical notes.

Similar Products Used:

Alumapro, MTX Thunder 7000. Alumapro is more effecient, and MTX hits harder. Aura is definitely much cleaner and tighter, and is a more musical subwoofer.
