Strength:

Extream Bass, Great sound Q, Awsome Xmax, Eye catching good looks, and fit in small space.

Weakness:

You have to have enough power to push them! 800RMS

I got 2 of thees 10" subs about the very end of 2000 in anticipation of my car. As you know all car shops have sells on last years stuff, so i got them for about $100 a piece. For about a month they sat in my room, till my brother got an 800w Max amp, and we decided to test one out in his car. Let me tell you, i have not heard hardly any 10" subs that could put out that much bass. We could thump out to anything like Blink 182. Realy nice subs, i would recomend them to anyone. You will probly not find batter subs for the price. I would take audiobahn over Orion, JL and all those other high Q Car auio brands. Its not that audiobahn is a porly made speaker, they are just a new brand, you should get some audiobahn whyle thier prices are still low.

Strength:

These are some of the best sounding subs on the market today for the price. They are perfect for those type of people who like to own and operate amps that put out a lot of power. I have had several pairs of subs and these by far are the best and cleanest sounding sub. One thing you need to keep in mind that some of the subs that I have had in the past I paid twice as much for and not got half the quality that these subs have. In fact, I traded a pair of subs that I paid around $800.00 for and had them only a couple months before I traded even up for these subs that I have now. This goes to show how much I like Audiobahn's Aluminum Cone Subs.

Weakness:

I don't like the 6 ohm voice coils. I would like to see an option where you can get 4 ohm or 2 ohm voice coils. With just having just a 6 ohm voice coil my experience with these subs so far is that 9 times out of 10 a person has to upgrade to a high current amp or completely go to a different brand of amplifiers just to run these subs.

Audiobahn has been a company that I have grown to love in a very short time. One of the things that I like about this company is the fact that I can get quality equipment at a far price. I would strongly recommend these subs to anyone because they hit hard and low and they come at a low price.

Similar Products Used:

Before I purchased these new subs I was looking at other "brand-name" subs and found that I could get the same performance with them as I could with the Audiobahn subs at half the price. For example, I looked at Eclipse's version of the aluminum cone sub and found that it was the exact same sub as the Audiobahn version. In fact, I found that they were the same sub the only difference was the name that was stamped on it. That is one of the reasons I don't like Eclipse. Don't get me wrong, I love their head units but they always have to double the price on everything that they sell. So unless you like to waste your money I stongly suggest purchasing Audiobahn's version of the sub over the other "brand-name" subs that are on the market, because they are the exact same sub and the only differnce is is the price.

Strength:

This subs produce extremely low bass, and hit hard. I have them in a full size Chevrolet Pickup under my back seat. With the limited space, these were the subs of good choice.

Weakness:

6 ohm or 3 ohm operation wasn't so good with my amp (Audiobahn A2800E) which is a 2 ohm stable amp, but that was primarily my fault...I should have bought a High Current amp instead.

I think these subs are perfect if you are limited to space, and want nice pounding bass. These subs are inexpensive depending on where you get them from. You can find this subs from $125-$200, so you need to look around. If you're interested in these subs, I believe it is important to find an amp that in capable of 1/2 ohm operation to see the true performance of these subwoofers.

Model Reviewed: Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm

Strength:

I bought the Alum10 Dual Voice Coil 4 Ohms. The speaker is contructed very well with excellent materials and adhesives. I believe the overall construction of the speaker is perhaps the best I have seen. The titaniam mounting posts are solid as a rock. The rubber surround is thick. The spider is massive. The frame is aluminum. The cone is a spun aluminum disk of respectable strength. The 120 oz. magnet comes fully protected by a plastic cover. The Alum10 has excellent Xmax linear excursion.

Weakness:

I doubt the 800 watts RMS power handling. One of the two I recieved had a misalignment between the speaker mounting holes and the silkscreen on the cone. Funky surround, long excursion, and sealed box only recommendation means you have to be careful about the speaker physiclly slamming into something when moving. They are power hungry.

I would recommend this for people who need a small sealed box and have lots of amplifier power on hand.

I'm running this on a Soundstream Reference 700s at 1 ohm mono(4 -4 ohm coils in 2 speakers) which is approximately 350 watts each. They are in a 1.8 cu.ft sealed box built of 1" thick red oak with 20% polyfill behind the rear seat.

The speakers really suck up the wattage and seem to take it all well. One concern is that I have the sensitivity all the way up on the amp. With only the built in amplifier crossover set to 50 hz/ 12dB/oct, I can raise the radio volume to max (30, bass set to 0, loudness off) with just a hint of breakup in the woofers, but overall very listenable and load! This corresponds to either excellent distortion characteristics or low overall efficiency in such a small box. I suspect its a measure of both.

These speakers take tight bass drum notes exceptionally well. Possibly due to the rigid aluminum cone and the long excursion. They perform on par with the Boom Bass with nothing remarkable except their higher output. Their midbass performance is mediocre and with only a 12db/oct crossover the natural inductance of the heavy coils seems to really filter out the midbass (which can be a good thing). I found myself actually fiddling around with my front speaker crossover settings to get more 150hz output from them to balance this unexpected null output.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to other 10s I don't know of any that match its output. And even seems to be the only pair of 10s I have heard which respectively hit the sub-bass in Star Tracks II! Excursions seems to be somewhere around 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" inches with piston like movement.

Weakness:

I would recommend this sub to anyone looking for an great looking and performing sub. they hit HARD and clean. and they cost way less than the eclipse alums. if you just want good sound or to have your friends jaws hit the floor these are the perfect subs.

Strength:

Requires little air space
Lots of power (800 watts) for such a small sub (10")
Great sub for such a cheap price

Weakness:

None

I recommend this sub to anyone who wants a nice system in their car for a fairly cheap price. This sub, in my opinion, is one of the best on the market for quality per price. And if thinking of competing with AudioBahn Alum series, you can always step up to the 12" for not very much more cost. Plus the Audiobahn amps give out so much power and look really nice at that. I recommend this speaker to anyone. Whether just in need of a semi-great system for cruising around or for going to the extreme all out and competing. This truly is one of the best speakers on the market today. Check all the reviews you want. Excursion is one of the top reason for how loud a speaker is and AudioBahn is by far one of the highest when it comes to excursion.

Strength:

-Superior sound quality.
-Extreme power handling (800W RMS), works my MTX amp to death.
-Awsome looks.
-Small box application.
-Twice as loud as any JL sub on the market.

Weakness:

-Aluminum cone scuffs easily.
-Really hard to find a grill to cover the rubber ring around the sub.

I have been using this sub for around a year now, and have not had a single problem with it. In fact I need to get a bigger amp to power it. I am powering it with a 1502 MTX Bluethunder amp at a 3 ohm load, and it still wants more ( I was told by MTX that my amp should be putting out around 500 X 1 at 4 0hms, so I should be pushing close to 600 X 1 at 3ohms).

I strongly recomend these Audiobahn subs if you are ever thinking about competing, or if you just want an awsome sound system. They are in my opinion the best subs on the market for the price. If you want to even come close to giving them the power they were meant to handle, you might try some of the audiobahn competition amps as well. They are just as cool to look at (gold and silver plated w/ a neon light on the top, and voltage guages), and they produce massive amounts of power (1200 RMS).

If you have any questions, or comments please email me and let me know what you think.

Strength:

Everything...These Subs are totally sweet. They Kill the Competition. They're a bang for the buck.

Weakness:

Very powerhungry. I suggest getting a rather large wattage amp.

These Subs are the best I have ever heard. They hit LOW and HARD with no signs of distortion. They are well constructed and are compact. If you dont have that much room for subs you might want to consider thses they are high output in a small woofer. If you want subs that are competition quality and are at low cost these are it!
