Strength:
Clean, true, strong sound for an exceptional value.
Weakness:
The 6.5 is a little bigger than the average, and I'm having a hard time keeping it from nudging up against my door panel. I have these as part of a full MB Quart set in my car: Two 5x7's in the front, two 6.5's in the rear, and a 10" Sub. The door speakers are all powered by a 4-channel Alpine MRP-F240 amp that gives them each 40w at 4 ohms. The sub is powered by an Alpine MRP-M350 amp that gives 200w at 4 ohms. All that having been said, these speakers kick ass. I tuned what the amps were doing a little, and using only the factory head unit, I'm getting crisp clear highs from the front, great and stable mids from the rear, and lows that are deep and true. All speakers seem fairly stable, though I haven't pushed them past 6 of 10 on my volume knob yet. To be honest, I'm not sure they'd blow before my eardrums did. The Discus line from MB Quart is a great value. They really are better as an "entry-level" line than just about any other brands high-end that I listened to. You MUST amp them, though. They don't fulfill their potential otherwise. Enjoy. Similar Products Used: Alpine speakers once upon a time, and just the factory crap most recently. |

Strength:
From the low-mid-high tones, classical to rock to rap, everything sounds absolutely excellent through these babes.
Weakness:
Beware the fact that these are, in fact, an oversized 6.5" speaker. Their site and other sites neglected to say this. These speakers are incredibly crisp and sound excellent. I stepped up to these from the stock and the difference is incredible! These speakers are beasts and even without a Sub they have a heartstoppin base. They are superb. Strength:
Good low-mid response Excellent tweeter Good quality construction Excellent value for the price
Weakness:
None These speakers are part of a full set of MB Quart Discus speakers: 3.5''s,5.25''s,6.5''s and a 10" sub. Powered by an Alpin MRV F505, providing 50W @ 12.0v to these speakers and installed in the rear of an ''87 Buick Regal. Excellent Low-Mid response, with a bright crisp tweeter makes these a significant compenent of the complete system. Even without the sub, there was good low end response, probably enough for most listeners as it is far above any factory setup. Excellent construction with good quality materials that appear unimpressive at first, but once powered up show their true reason for being. For an "entry" level speaker, this rivals many manufacturer''s highend Similar Products Used: Infinity, pionner, JL |

Strength:
Versitile; all types of music sound pretty good. They are about the best I''ve heard for $100 speakers. I''ve heard speakers from Dynaudio down, and these speakers are excellent for their price range.
Weakness:
Not the best for high power levels, which suits me fine. I was more interested in getting a high quality sound at an affordable price than rattling my windows. I''ve been pretty pleased with these speakers. For the price I paid, I''d say they are a great deal. I bought them after trading cars; my Eclipse speakers were too small for my Prelude. I have two pairs running on Alpine amps. I have a set of Kicker tweets and an MTX sub (thinking of upgrading it to JL). Similar Products Used: Eclipse |
