Strength:

Very shallow mounting depth, can be bi-amp,good looks, good materials, excellant sound for a coaxial, angled tweeter, gold plated inputs.Very high tech looking.Dual neo magnets found in much higher priced speakers.

Weakness:

None as of yet.

I got these for Xmas and put them in the doors of my 89 Integra.Since mounting depth was an issue,I chose these since the mounting depth is less than 2 inches.I''m very impressed with thses speakers so far.I''m only running them off my Alpine CD player, but they get quite loud.Very good highs and very tight low. These will go down to about 40 Hz,no kidding.I didn''t think too much about Kenwood products, but I really like these. They sound as good as anything else out there, better than MB Quart''s Discus series coax.

Strength:

Sounds okay at lower volumes.

Weakness:

When the volume goes up the mids and highs out of these things are HARSH!!
My old Boston CX6's sounded better.

I put these speakers in my car and was extremely dissapointed. When you crank up the volume the harshness of the mids and highs hurt my ears and they even clipped when the volume got too loud. I have a Clarion 50x4 amp that sounded better hooked up to my old Boston Acoustics CX6's than it did hooked up to these. I returned the Kenwoods and decided to spend quite a bit more money and went with the new Boston RC620 Ralley Components. These sound incredible and and will never distort and the dynamic range is awesome. Bottom Line: don't get these Kenwoods; there are much better speakers out there for the same price.

Strength:

Beautiful mids and highs at low to medium volume levels

Weakness:

They clipped once at only about 40W input, can be rather harsh at high volumes (as previous reviewer said).

Bottom line: There are better speakers for the money.

Strength:

I love the clarity and the richness of the midrange these speakers have. It's by far Kenwood's best speaker. The design unique and sylish.

Weakness:

Nothing. None. Nada.

As an employee of Circuit city, I was able to get them at wholesale price, but even at $180 these speakers are truly worth every penny. Currently, I have my Xr600's in the rear to supply my bass and my 1677s up front for midrange. I originally tried it the other way around with my Xr600's up front(which sounded absolutely wonderful) and my 1677s in back, but with that setup, there was absolutely no bass. The 1677s suck!!!! Therefore, I have my setup the way it is. The bass is tight and solid, and the highs are astounding (I can hear more midrange from the rear than from the front. I recomend these speakers to anybody looking for a clean-sounding replacement for any factory speaker.

Strength:

Solid sound, handles high power very well, down to about 60 Hz. Nice frequency response. The tweeter and mid use different magnets and can be seperated onto different amplifier channels.

Weakness:

Price is a little steep.

I paid about $120 for the set. I like the sound better than that of my Boston Rallys. They can handle about 20Hz lower of frequency. They are also a little softer on the tweeter. I'm running them at about 50 Watts on amplified power, with LPF of about 60 Hz. My Bostons I have to cut at about 80 Hz at the same power.
