Model Reviewed: Polyflex 130 H

Strength:

Titanium inverted-dome tweeter is the same one used in their higher-end Polyglass and Polykevlar models. The mids use similar, if not exact, basket/magnet/voice-coil assembly as their more expensive models. Power handling is better than their new Access line.

Weakness:

No 2-way crossover, only a little high-pass filter for the tweeter, but the woofer is supposed to roll off naturally, or so I'm told.

Ignore the photo above; these are components, not coaxials. I traded a set of JL Evolution VR650s for the Focals, after I realized the JLs wouldn't fit in my doors without custom panels. I have the mids in the doors and the tweets in the stock dash locations. After putting up with factory speakers for 2 years, these Focals are amazing. Everything possesses a natural, live sound. Vocals are projected very well, snares really SNAP, and electronics/effects have even greater clarity now. The tweeters sound much sharper than what I'm used to, but unlike other speakers I have heard, they are not harsh or piercing at high volumes. The mids sound a little bit crunchy at times, but overall things are crystal-clear and very loud. I am happy with the trade, and i feel that I scored a true quality car audio product.
