Strength:

Best sound quality

Weakness:

A little expensive.

These splits are the best speakers I have ever heard and tried. It was expensive but it was worth every cent. The Dyns will help me win the Sound Quality comp! System consists of Pioneer DEH-P8450MP, Audison VR203 running the Dyns, Xtant 121M running the single Focal 27V sub. And a Rockford Fosgate Symmetry processor doing the fine tuning. Professionally installed in a Peugeot 306 Cabrio by Pat Foley. Sound quality is great that is why it will be competing in Summernats 16 in Jan 2003 in Street 0-600 watt Sound Quality class.

Strength:

Tonal balance, sound stage, no distortion. Dynaudio will make you want to listen to all your discs again. The bad part is that the poor recordings will make you frown...so get yourself a sweet disc, and check 'em out IN A CAR, NOT IN THE STORE!!!

Weakness:

If I could utter ANY complaints, would be that you're going to notice EVERYTHING else about your system (this may be a good thing). I've recently stepped up to a CD player with 24 bit Burr Brown D/A's, and better amps (Zapco/Brax). This will most likely be MY last "upgrade". I'm VERY happy. Finding a sub that can keep up is difficult.

The Dynaudio's won't draw your attention at first, like ALL other "high end" brands. The added time spent on tweeter/midrange placement is well worth it. When "tweeked", these speakers will reveal EVERYTHING, but in the most musical way. The little things you didn't hear before, like musical space/silence between notes, and instruments is nothing short of amazing. This is due to the unique motor structure (3" voice coils), giving them the ability to have total control over the cone.

I can't really say there's anything else even close...but lets say Dynaudio wasn't around...I'd buy a set of the good A/D/S's (NOT the 3 series), Rainbow's, AVI's BSM series, Soundstream Exact's (real

Strength:

Extremely smooth and accurate. Can easily handle high sound levels with minimal distortion.

Weakness:

Long time to break in. Need good, clean power!

I spent 2 months listening to any decent speaker I could find in stores. ADS 336, MB Quarts Q series, Boston Pros (they sound terrible now, I don't know what they're thinking), Infinity, Polk, Diamond Audio. The Dynaudios blew them all away (except for $$). The MBs were deceiving at first. They sounded clear and accurate at first, but then the more you listen to them and the more types of music you try, you think... do I really want these metal tweeters 2 feet from my ears? The Diamonds were probably 2nd in line but just didn't have the crispness of the Dynes. So, I finally had the Dynes installed in the front of my Audi with a 120 W/channel ADS amp. Boy did they need a long time to break in. They told me 100-150 hours. I think it's more like 200 hours. At first I thought they were already broken in and was dissappointed by the harshness of some high frequencies - I even added an EQ to reduce the sound at 3KHz. But then 2-3 weeks after all of this, the speakers just all of a sudden sounded amazing. I can just spend all day in the car listening to music. Advice for those thinking of Dynes or who just purchased them: invest in a separate power supply and just run your speakers every day until they've passed 200 hours! Believe me, it's worth it. Waiting for 200 hours in the car, wondering if the speakers have been broken in, and suffering is just not the way to go.

Strength:

smooth, detailed at times

Weakness:

a lot, they sound good sometimes and other times they suck. The company makes it sound as if these speakers are beyond compression but they don't get loud enough in the car. I have gone through a ton of amps both high voltage and high current. They always leave you wanting more. I wasted my money!!! Buy something more car oriented such as MB Q's or ADS. Acutally the best high end speaker I heard that lived up to its brochure were the Focals! I have spent so much money on finding the RIGHT amplification as directed by Dyn NA, don't waste your hard earned dollars.

Look at weakness, not a good car speaker unless you spend a ton on amplification. I wouldn't give them a single star! They should stay in the home environment not for the car. -2 stars

Definetely the best speakers. If you have quality components you will appreciate these speakers immensely. They are far more superior in every way. You will not be dissappointed, even after paying the premium price tag. You get what you pay for. Highly recommended

Strength:

Accurate tonal quality, fast, natural sound, never harsh

Weakness:

You gotta be kiddin...

These are the only spks that give you true audiophile quality sound in car. Borrowing from their extensive research and development of home hifi spks, Dynaudio has got a winner with this spk. With a big 7" mid/woofer in front, getting the bass to the front sound stage is easy. Needs high power, high quality amps to drive. Matches well with Cadence A4 class A amps. Highs are never harsh, mids are warm and full, bass is tight and tuneful.

This is a quality product that deserves quality watts to give its best. With proper setup, there is no competition.

need lots power to sing, low cost/performance ratio.

need good electronics to sing, un-natural sound, harsh at high
freq. Dyn always make 'sonic signature' of their own.
Dont buy it if you partnering with low powered amp.

These are in my experience the best car speakers I have heard. Very smooth and detailed. Also very revealing of poorly recorded material. Your head unit and amp should also be of high quality to get the most out of these speakers. Purchased the 240 mk.II's new from Peter Lufrano at The Autophile on sale for $610 (reg. $750) so not a bad deal, considering the quality of sound they provide.
