2001 Neodymium 3055''s
Strength:
Price, shallow mounting depth, accurate tweet, decent midbass
Weakness:
Grating highs Great "bang-for-your-buck" comps. After I installed them, upgrading from stock, the first things I noticed were an extremely accurate tweet and a woof that can handle more bass than I thought. After further listening, the tweet can grind on you a bit at high volumes, but accurate sonic recreation is very, very good. Overall I''m pleased and I''d recommend them to anyone on a slightly tighter budget than you might like to be. If you have the cash, spring for a/d/s. Similar Products Used: BA rally |

Strength:
Very smooth tweeter. Good power handling. Excellent for the money.
Weakness:
Lacks utmost detail found in the very best speaker sets. I had originally bought a set of DEI 2065 seperates for my new Honda Civic but the 3065s were the latest and greatest. Both sets offered exceptionally smooth sound with an especially nice tweeter. The silk unit from the 3065 set is surely one of the very best from a $200 component set. Never harsh no matter what it is playing out how loudly it is playing it. I usually sat that if you find most tweeters too brightm, these may be the perfect speakers for you. DEI 3065, 3055
Strength:
Price. Sound quality. Installation versatility. Smooth tweeters. Power handling.
Weakness:
None Not a better speaker for the money in my opinion. I have Boston pro 6.5's in my other vehicle, and they are excellent speakers when given lots of power, but the DEI's have a tweet that is soooo sweet. Similar Products Used: Boston Pro's, Rockford Fosgate |

DEI 3055
Strength:
Speakers sound great. Take lots of power, can get much louder than I would want to get in a car.
Weakness:
Feels cheap. The neo magnet is very small and extremely strong, but I have a hard time getting over the fact that I used equate weight with quality. The DEI 3055 are some of the better speakers I have had in my car. I had some infinity speakers in the car before that didn't even compare (much older models). Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
For the money the best component set out there. Excellent tweeter. Handles way more power than DEI recommends. Easy installation. (I used the 3065 6.5" set)
Weakness:
They need power... they're a little less sensitive than most speakers. Dont power them off of a headunit unless it's got a high-power output, or you wont get the volume you want. About 50 watts per chanel or higher works best. I bought the 3065s after hearing a lot of good things about them, and I wasn't dissapointed. I used them in fibreglass kickpanels with approx .15 cu. ft. of airspace in a 95 Eclipse. The sound was smooth and accurate, without any harshness on the high end or unwanted resonance in the midrange. Crossed over at 100Hz (18db/oct), I sent about 200 watts rms to each side off an MTX 2300 amp. It handled the power with ease and probably could have taken more. I highly recomend these to anyone who wants exceptional sound without a hefty price tag. Similar Products Used: Fosgate |

ME
an Audiophile
I'm using the HF 3045 (4") set with some 7" Dynaudio MW160 drivers for midbass. DEI was kind enough to send me their 3-way crossovers for free. I have the DEI's mounted in the dash of my 93 Prelude and the Dyn's in the doors. With my PPI A600 powering these speakers (300X2 @ 2ohms) and no sub yet this set sounds great. Vocals are great and with some top notch midbass drivers the bottum end is well rounded. This set rivals a $2k a/d/s 335px speaker set I heard. Very detailed, clean but not harsh. DEI will shortly release their HF 3064 midbass add-on kit. It's a reworked version of the 6.5" driver in the 3065 set which is tuned for better midbass. Shortly thereafter they will release an 8" add-on midbass driver. These can be added onto Studio component sets to make 3-ways. Based on my experience these will be THE best 3-way components for the money (should be under $300 for the 3-way setup.) Just be sure to feed these speakers plenty of power, underpowering them will leave you unhappy. In the $450-$500 range CD Technologies makes some 3-ways which are supposed to sound fantastic. So I'm very happy with my DEI's, I don't think you can beat them for the money. While the 6.5" has decent midbass the 5.25" and 4" versions will pretty much require another driver to cover midbass. |

Strength:
DEI Studio 3065 2-Way Component Set. Midbass not bad, but I've heard better. Value pricing-but in this case, you get what you pay for.
Weakness:
Of all the speaker's I've used over the past the four years, these stand out as the worst. Cheap build quality. One of the midbass speakers bottomed out. No tweeter attenuation on the passive crossover-it needs to be cut back by -3dB, for my ears. I was not impressed with these speakers at all.
