Boston Pro 6.53
Strength:
Quality and construction. And good looking too. Sound quality is excellent. Highs and mids are very crisp and clear. The lows are much stronger in the small cabin of my car, and if I rest my arm on the door I get a nice massage.
Weakness:
One of the few things I did not like about the Bostons were the crossover connections. They will work just fine and hold the wires in well, but they are sometimes a pain to insert into the holes, and the way the screws secure the wires are strange. But anyway, not really an issue, just kinda annoying. First let me say the build quality on these speakers are excellent. That is one of the things that drew me to them, the construction is so clean and everything about them is rugged and durable. I am powering these speakers with the JBL P80.4 amplifier, and each side is getting around 120w. So far I am impressed by the speakers. The sound quality is great, and I love the highs and mids. The tweeters are not too harsh at all, at least for my tastes. You can select either Flat, -2db, -4db on the crossover for the tweeters, and I have em set on Flat. The 6.5" woofers can produce some good thump, however there is an obvious lack of deep lows on the bottom of the spectrum. I do have a Boston 8" Pro subwoofer waiting for installation, and I think this final addition will provide the perfect SQ setup, as I do not want my system to be boomy at all, but still provide plenty of thump and bass at the seat of my pants if need be. But the 6.5" woofers, nonetheless, will provide plenty of bass if you are not into "feeling" the lower frequencies. And even still, I can feel these woofers if I turn them up loud enough. Similar Products Used: Never really used any aftermarket stuff until the Bostons. I had a pair of 3-way Nokias that came with the premium sound system, with 5.25" woofers. These were surprisingly good speakers with the righ |

Strength:
They got me 4th place at the 2000 USAC World Finals. Awesome midrange and bass.
Weakness:
Bulky crossover units. Blow very easily. If you are going to go all out go with some focals instead. I used the Bostons in my competition vehicle for 6 months and I blew them once. They are not bad sounding but not as durable as I would have expected. Similar Products Used: Focal, Image Dynamics |

Strength:
Range of sound, cleanliness, ability to handle lots of power.
Weakness:
Thery're one of the most, if not the most expensive component speakers on the market. Also It can be difficult to find a spot for the extra 4 inch speakers without cutting into your door panel. Kick panels work. It doesnt matter how well built a two-way speaker is, it could be made out of diamonds and gold; You still wont get the full range of sound that you get with these three-way speakers. Since sound is coming from so many directions, you get great sound imaging throughout the cab of your car. Similar Products Used: Eclipse, Alpine, JL Audio |

Strength:
Build quality, power handling and acoustics!
Weakness:
A little brassy (could be fantastic if you like that!) I paid $699 for the 3-way set and believe me the price is well worth it. This are the most durable and and cleanest sounding midrange on the market. If you like a REALLY crisp clean tweeter and a LOT of mid-bass, then this is the combo for you. This set is capable of handling over 500 Watts of power! This is a serious component system! Similar Products Used: Polk, MB Quart, DynaAudio, Diamond Audio |
