Strength:
awesome clarity, you can push these speakers to the limit with little to no cracks, sound great with any type of music, very versital
Weakness:
the only one thing i've had a problem with, and im not sure if its the speakers or not...but my rear tweeters will sometimes clip out when i crank it up, nothing major, but if anyone knows what could be causing this please e-mail me These speakers are amazing, i've got 5.5's in the front, and the 6.5's in the back. Im running these with audiobahn 600/4, not the cleanest power, but when any kind of power goes into this speaker that is wired right, you can bet your money, its gonna blow your mind what comes out. I have not had one problem with volume or clarity with these speakers, i am very pleased with boston on this one. My brother has mb quarts in his vehicle...and when it comes to mid's and high's, i've got him by a long shot....no dissapointment. If anyone has a boston gt-42 amp or any pro's they wanna sell please e-mail me. |

everything but i agree that the tweeters are a little bright and with the Alpine unit you can adjust that to your specifications very loud
Weakness:
none but it takes a little tweeking with the head unit to find your individual likes/dislikes in sound I just got these speakers and love them.. all of the people on this site complaigning of SHHing and such should try reading up about their head unit. I had the same problem becuase of a relative who tried to mess with them without his glasses.. after 2 hours of tweeking, they sounded 500% better and i fell completely in love. they need a subwoofer if just installing the 6.5's and 5.5's so i'm gonna put in the 12in one.. Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5
Strength:
Mid-bass is clear and precise. Distortion doesn't apprear to be an issue, and power handling capacity is good. Good discounts can be had if you invest a little time in looking. Heck, want to buy mine?
Weakness:
Highs FAR too harsh off-axis, even with significant EQ adjustment and the crossover tweeter setting at a -4 dB cut (which is the max allowed). I would only recommend them for an installation where ideal placement, on-axis, is possible. Overall I'd say that they're decent for the money, if you're only paying $200-ish for them. Not "good" for the money, though. Just "decent". The tweeters sound good on-axis, but only on-axis. Off-axis, they sound terrible - very harsh, and far too bright. Sound is subjective, of course. For my ears, they sound far too bright ... even with the tweeter set at -4 dB on the crossover, and the head unit's EQ backed off as much as possible in the 3k-4.5 kHz range (this is using an Alpine 9813). If you're willing to pay this much, I would suggest paying a little more for some FAR better speakers. Strength:
Clean high tweeters. equally powerful mids. Produces nice, defined and accurate music
Weakness:
Needs a very powerful amplifier. On the manual, it needs amplified power from 20 to 400w. 400W!!!??? it''s like a sub woofer...!!! This is one power hungry mama Very good speakers. The best i''ve heard compared to the Rockford, MB Quart and Rallys. The tweeters are very high, and placement is very important otherwise they will become harsh to your ears. Bass is good and these speakers are just awesome... very good, defined and accurate music. I always drive with a smile on my face, amused at how good the music plays. However, you''d need a very good and powerful amplifier to maximize its potential. I''m currently using an MTX 4 ch at 20w x 2 and i''m planning to replace them with an equally powerful 2ch amp atleast 90 to 150w x 2. I''ve also got a pair of boston rallys at the rear and will probably get a separate 2 ch but only at 40 to 50w x 2. Similar Products Used: MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, Boston Rally 620 |

If you put enough power to them they can be the best speakers in the price range
Weakness:
None I Work at Good Guys in Tacoma Wa. and I installed many speakers in a lot of diffrent cars. I own the 6.5 seprates and if you want them to sound good you have to dynamat the doors and spend some money on an amp. If you do that these speakers are beautiful. Near Perfect sound reproduction. Able to play all types of music and sound great. Killer looks.
Weakness:
a bit pricy, but not really if you are looking at hi end anyway.. All I have to say about people with bad experiences with these speakers is.... Its all about the install... These are one of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard.. I have gone through many different brands before I stopped looking any further.. Previous to my boston days I was using infinity perfects.. they sounded great, but the bostons do everything just a little bit better.. I would recommend these to anyone that can afford them.. Oh.. and to anyone that thinks these are crap, email me and I will buy yours off you! I have since converted both of my cars over to all boston Pro speakers and subs... Just splended..... Strength:
Impressive midrange, VERY powerful driver for a component set, obviously a good crossover.
Weakness:
Expensive, somewhat harsh tweeter. I haven't heard these in my car, but I have heard them in so many other cars and showrooms that I know how they sound compared to other speakers (at least in showrooms). They are excellent speakers; perhaps there are better choices for the price, but Boston is certainly not a second-rate brand. The tweeters are slightly harsh - not like MB Quart harsh, but noticeably louder than the CD Technologies. Similar Products Used: CD Technologies 3-way components, Boston Rally RC61 component set. |

None anymore!
Weakness:
do u REALY wanna know????....then read below A few years ago I thought they were pretty much thee BEST speakers! So finally I got the 6.5 in my car a few months ago...they sound like a turd! They sound so HARSH (the Sssss shound is reproduced as SHHHHHHHHHHH instead). And they sound Nasal-ee (I suck at spelling). Sounds like someone is constantly singing through a mega phone. And i don't mean they sound like "s h i t" using the term loosely as in "BA sound like s h i t compared to Focals or Polk Audio", i mean, they sound like they are majorly defective. I believe there may have been a recal on them- does anyone know for sure? Maybe it's the cross-over? Plus, the freaking grills keep popping off and then if u just touch the tweets weak aluminum domes u get dents all over them! Bring back the Titanium domes!! Similar Products Used: Focal Kevlar - thye RULE, Polk DB 51/4" with JBL 60t tweets, and x-overs I built myself - Kick ASS! The same JBL tweets with Rockord 5 1/4 - they sucked, unlike the 6 1/2 that are awesome! |

None I use to sell car audio and like clean accurate sound the boston 6.5pro is one of the best sets I have heard. I have spent many of hours listening to many different speakers with the same equipment(amp and head unit), to give them all a fair chance and in the price range of tht boston it was one of the best, another favorite of mine I liked cause it had a little better mid-bass response was the Polk 6.5 Momo. I dont think there was any speaker in the bostons class that imaged better than it. It images like crazy. You do need alot of power about 50 watts of a good amplifer or more. I am currently running a orion 275 xtr on them and they sound awesome.. Similar Products Used: None |
