Sonically clear (at first), tweeter throws good imaging

after 3 months something inside melts and the cone is adheared to the voice coil, rendering it useless. I went through 3 sets of CX9's in my MG with them powered by a rockford 4 channel amp... I thought i was just turning them up too loud due to being in a convertable, but then I bought CX5's for my Volvo's rear deck and they did the same thing powered off the head unit, being careful on the bass to not distort them.

I was bummed out, because I really like Boston Acoustics. My friend runs all rally component sets in his SUV including 2 rally 12"s in a bandpass box and I was very impressed with the sound, but it seems as you get lower down in the boston series, they start to not care about product quality. At least they come with a 1 year warrantee... but then when you send your speakers back youre left without at least one of them for 3 weeks untill a replacement arrives... and this happened to me 3 times. My volvo's CX5's are currently toast, but im not even going to bother sending them back.

In my MG i replaced them with Sony Xplod 3 way 6x9's which sounded a little more unnatural, but actually handled the power and are still going strong. Better low end, too. As for the volvo, thats why i'm here researching.

-Good high end for a two way speaker
-Durability and longevity (lasted me 2+ years with no noticable decrease in sound quality)

-Speaker dosent have much of a low end

I have had these speakers in two different cars now and they are going into my next car. They have been runnung off a rockford 25x2 punch amp too. I suggest getting a higher wattage handling speaker if you want it hooked to an amp though. I don't feel the need to buy new speakers as long as they sound new. boston acoustics makes a good speaker even at an entry level price.
