Weakness:
Very little mid-bass output. Not expecting much, obviously but they barely even seem to cover the range down to my 90hz crossover point. I assume they would always be used with subwoofers, as mine are, but I could not ever recommend them for full range use as they sound way to thin alone. Despite my thoughts on the mid-bass weakness, I actually like my speakers in the scense that I have them, so I use them. Perhaps if I had experience with any other car separates I would have a better frame of reference. I have experienced hundreds of home audio speakers and in terms of ultimate sound quality they are simply, average, OK. Hot in the mid-range and very sharp in the highs. I think the most important thing I can add to this forum is that I have owned my pair for 5 years and was shocked to see all the complaints of tweeter failure. I only run 50W / RMS per channel to them and they are in perfect condition. Granted my Blaupunkt V450 amplifiers feature the THDL feature which effectively will not allow the amp to clip. I can totally max all amp gains, EQ boosts and volume control but the amps will not clip. Actually in a test in Autosound & Security they confirmed that even with a 9V input, the amps never execeded 0.1 THD. Most people play loud music just shy of clipping which often results in a mildly audible 10% THD. Not too horribly bad considering at that point you are just rocking out but it is 100 times greater distortion than my Infinity's ever see. So in the regard I am protecting them as any user should be by keeping the amp just shy of clipping at high levels. My is pretty tame but very regularly runs near its 133dB max levels. While most think high power kills speakers, it is actually harsh semi-square waves produced by hard clipping that usually smokes tweeters quickly. But, if so many people are having a problem with the same set, there must be a problem. As for me, I have been waiting for these things to get damaged so I can buy a nicer pair of MB Quarts or Diamond Hex components. Similar Products Used: Infinity Kappa 6.2Ci ? They were also a little thin sounding for nearly twice the price. Maybe it's just my doors. |

Strength:
Great sound, good looks.
Weakness:
Tweeter blew, not protection for it, would have like to see them last longer. Paid 240 for them and they were well worth it, midrange was alittle quiet for my taste, and the highs were low for me as well, so I turned up the treble and the tweets, one at a time quite working for me. I belive the speakers are for certain people, but just not me, they worked really well and sounded good until the tweeters blew, so im upgrading to MB Quart Q's, but they were great untill they went. Strength:
The sound is crisp and clear. The warranty service is excellent.
Weakness:
No protection for the tweeter. At first I loved these speakers. But you get what you pay for. I paid $129.00 for these and thats all they are worth. Like the others before me ... I blew the tweeters. I called Infinity and they promptly sent me new ones. I would recomend these products for factory replacements but I would avoid them for everything else. Similar Products Used: None |

Kappa 60.1CS
Strength:
Clean with good power handling. Nice looks too.
Weakness:
Tweeters blow easy, no protection circuit in the crossover for them. Infinity support is so-so at best. Paid $265.00 at www.soundpros.com over a year ago for them. They ahve since quit selling Infinity car audio. After about 5 months the tweets blew and Infinity kept screaming for a dated recipt to replace them. Got a recipt with no problems but have found others that say they are on their second and third set of tweets. I am debating still if it isworth the trouble to return them after not getting replies to my questions from Infinity. |

Strength:
excellent tweeter, decent sound
Weakness:
bad midrange woofer, expensive since i bought them a while back These are good speakers. They do have their problems. I don't know why everyone has blown their tweeters. I have had no problem with it whatsoever. I think the tweeters sound great. The midrange woofers leaves a lot to be desired. They don't handle midbass too well. I have to drop the gain on my amp so they do not distort. I have them running at 65(probably more since it is on an orion amp) watts. Similar Products Used: Focal - Focal's sound much better but i like the sound of these tweeters better |

Loud without distortion for ROCK music. Barracuda (Heart) is DEAFENING!!
Weakness:
Distorts like a mother f... with RAP music. overall decent sound-- but not worth retail. Weak mid woofer cone tears easily. I blew one mid cone the first week I had 'em. Tweets sound good but a bit harsh (up at 21K). I guess you just expect more when the msrp is around $300. I like my kappa 6x9's and I think that I'm gonna try to replace my KAPPAs components with the new PERFECTS. Strength:
Great sound, looks and VALUE
Weakness:
Tweeters are harsh, no mid bass These speakers are a pretty good buy and are ideal for an upgrade from stock. Like others said, the tweeters are definately a little harsh when music is louder. I don't even play my music that loud but when you're on the freeway and you need to turn it up just a little, some stuff definately hurts the ears. It's a double edged sword though cause 90% of the time they sound great and you couldn't live without them once you've heard them. Similar Products Used: Honda Stock System (no comparison) |
