what I am saying in a long winded way is I think I have seen it all and these subs impress me so much, that I am looking to replace them with new old stock, or used Kicker C10a's Rather than with newer more up to date subs. I don't believe these are the best subs on the market then or now, I am pleased to pieces that they sounded great, hit clean and hard, and lasted for so long for less than $150 ea. Lots of power below 50-hz can make the woofer cone hit the frame.

Rubber surrounds, ant resonant basket, aluminium cone, decent crossover, great sound from tweeter / woofer combination.

The depth of the speaker could be a restriction to some vehicles so note this.

I purchased my first set of ADS speakers from a friend. I had mine running of an old school Rockford Fosgate Punch 200ix. My Pioneer DEH-9650MP set at 80hz high pass setting, and my bass was provided by dual Kicker Comp VR 12's in a 5cu ft ported box. The speakers blended in well with the bass and I loved the silk dome tweeters sound as it was not harsh at high volumes compared to metal tweeters. The crossover does give you options to attenuate the tweeter volume to 0/-3db during installation. I found the midwoofer to be of 6 inch size and not 6.5 so check your vehicles stock speaker size. The mid bass provides adequate kick up front and better if your front doors are sound deadened. The vocals are pleasant is listen with no nasal or honking frequencies that make the speakers sound bad. The woofers can handle lots of power as well, as I ran the Rockford Fosgate amp with them. These are highly sought speakers unfortunately have gone out of business and there were few copies on the market.

The A/D/S 236is component speakers are fantastic. I searched around for a while, listening to many different brands before I auditioned the A/D/S brand. The sound from these speakers is very natural and clear, without the tinny or hollow sound that I heard from other brands. The bass is pretty strong from these, although I have a JL Audio 10" sub backing them up and the tweeters are amazing. I will certainly buy another set of A/D/S speakers for the next car I buy.
