Keeps me up late at night with constant false hits. (little else is good about it)

Barks at anything that moves. Includeing power mirrors!

It used to work good. Sure it had a number of falses. But now.. it goes off ever minute.. including at my house which is some 500ft done a dirt driveway fully seculded by trees, yet this thing swears there is a cop taggin me at level 2 strength on its meter. The best is yet to come, if set my electric mirror switch to the drivers mirror and press the left arrow to move it out the detector goes bereserk on the laser detection. It swears the lasercop is sitting on my bumper... while in my garage! 3 years operation and its finally barking at anything that moves. time to get a newer, better one. In my Opinion, avoid this little sucker at all costs.. though $80 for 3 years isnt bad. their was another model for $10 extra that would remeber the setting of the modes. wasnt worth it, why did uniden even bother with the one without it if they were going to charge so little extra?

I found this gem in the glove box of a 94 Volvo in a salvage yard (that should have been my "first " clue).Hey I thought it was a my lucky day,brother was I wrong.I was driving to S.C.that weekend for a Family reunion so I cleaned it up & would call for infomation (manual) when I returned.I got pulled over in both VA. & SC.Big PHATT Tickets. (a) Lessons Learned; So next time you come across a LRD6199SWS in a JUNKED car, in a JUNK YARD- LEAVE IT.!! It''s BAD LUCK,Karma ,etc.

too many false signals, doesn't work as well as I would have liked

I would have recommended had I not read how great all the new radar detectors are and how people are happy with them. I constantly get false signals, people must think I'm retarded for putting on the brakes when their's no cop. Don't get me wrong, it does work, it's just very difficult to decide what's a cop and what's not, resulting in several tickets :(

If you want a cheap radar detector buy this, however if you want a good one that'll actually save you from tickets I'd get a good one and if you don't like the performance you can always return it can get something different.

from what I've read i think i'm gonna get a Escort Passport 7500, every review I read says they love it.

Picks up many stray signals, false alarms.

I forget what I paid for this unit...somewhere around $80, I think. It has saved my butt a number of times, however I doubt I'd buy another one. I tend to ignore it after a while since it goes off so often (probably once every 1-2 minutes on the highway). You only pay attention to it when it starts going nuts and by then the cop is already on top of you. Overall, not bad for the money, but I'd spend the extra and get a better unit.
