HAVING BEEN IN LAW-ENFORCEMENT I WAS ABLE TO TEST MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF RADAR DETECTOR'S. SIDE BY SIDE WITH A MARKED UNIT AHEAD OF ME AT 1200 YRDS. ESCORT WAS FIRST BEL SECOND AND THE REST UNDERNEATH,EXCEPT VALIENTINE, ITS ON MY TO DO LIST.

Good X band range well defined seperate audio alerts, suction cup mount is among the best, radar detector can be removed with a push of the button on the top of the unit and mount stays attached to the windshield.

Weak at detecting K,and worse at detecting KA radar and if KA radar is used in your area you may want to buy the 8500 model, the Bel 985 and Valentine one are the best at detection K,KA radar.

Well made radar detector and worth the price, I own some of the most expensive units on the market including the Valentine one radar locator, Escort 8500, Bel 985, not in the same league as the others.

Not that great of range when it comes to K and Ka bands. X-band range is terrific. Rear detection is not that great.

It is a great detector for the price you pay. I paid $170 for mine. Although I know there are better detectors out there, they are also a lot more expensive. And the detector DOES have a city mode.

Solid Escort product, compact and lightweight, effective against all types of speed detection and emergency signaling

NO "CITY" MODE!!!

This is a fine detector (in form and function) but gets little use in my car because it has no "city" mode. It is constantly alerting me to banks, hardware stores, supermarkets, pedestrian crossings, etc., all those major threats to my freedom to drive!

weak ka, and k

i just recently purchased this 6800 from escort. It is a nice detector, but it seems very compared to the older 4500 i used to own from escort.I am giving it more time, i did get a great deal on this detector. I will wait a little longer to give it a overall test, but for the priceyou cannot beat this detector. At theb same time the 3 times i encounterd police radar and laser, it seemed very weak.
