RX65 on my Yamaha R6 The Review: When you set up the RX65 together with a H.A.R.D Led system, Techmount 13mm steering stem bracket, waterproof plastic case from the escort radar detector accessory site, velcro, and the Direct Wire for your Beltronics brand Radar Detector you will be one happy rider. The RX65 was successful at detecting every radar so far, The best so far was just abou 2 miles away, on the other side of the hill I was climbing, up the other hill. The Range was amazing.

Strength:

Work good when they work

Weakness:

they fail and bell is not easy to deal with

Bought 2 of these new on 4-11-06. One failed within 30 days, and the other within 3 months. The way BOTH of them failed is that when you plug them in, the lights come on for a split second then they power off. No beeps are emitted. I called to return them and they said they knew nothing about the problem which I find VERY hard to believe since both failed the same way in two different vehicles. The cords are fine, I am using one of them on my old Passport 8500 to this day. The serial numbers on these units is a consecutive 2 numbers, so maybe it was the batch??? Who knows for sure. Turn around time is 20 days at Bell, so that is not great either. If you do buy these units buy directly from Bell because they try everything to get out of fixing the units. I paid 702.79 for these two RX65's that don't work and I will be sending them back tomorrow since I finally found my receipt. They would not even talk to me on the phone when I told them I could not find the receipt at first call a few months ago.

I would avoid these units and I should have stuck with the Passport 8500 that is still working great from 2001.

Strength:

Great Range on all Bands esp. KA. Very bright display. Easy programming

Weakness:

Poor against Laser detection.

I have had all 3 top line radar detectors. The V1 1.8, The Passport 8500 X50, and this Bel RX65. They all have their ups and downs. If you are looking for the most consistant radar detector the RX65 is it. Less false alerts then the V1 and better features; like the display and easy programming. The X50 is the RX65's brother and they are very close in performance. But the RX65 has likeable features like voice alerts and a brighter display that the X50 doesn't have. NO radar detector will ever be able to save your butt when it comes to laser (most of the time) but the V1 is definitely the best at detecting Lidar bouncing off other vehicles followed by the X50. If laser is the biggest concern for you then definitely get the V1. The RX65 is also the cheapest of all 3. You can get them around 210.00 on ebay brand new. The range is great on all bands esp. KA band. You won't be disappointed

Excellent. I've been using a friends on long trips across many states and never ran into any problems. After reading several reviews and checking on radartest dot com I decided to get one of my own because I've gotten so used to relying upon it. Excellent sensitivity, well worth the money.

It works very well.

Weakness:

The RX65 works amazingly well. The range and sensitivity on all bands (X, K, and Ka) will give the driver ample time to react to police radar. I turned off the annoying X band, and POP option. Police don't use X band to measure speed in Boston, MA.

Strength:

Great range. Technical display which lets you see strengths of multiple signals at one time. For example if you know everytime you pass the shopping center you get a k4 and you drive by and you get a k4 & a ka6 signal, then you know something is out there and you should compensate for it. There's also a new plug for the cigg lighter that has a handy easy to reach mute button so when you're on the phone and the thing is going nuts you can shut it up without reaching too far. I found the programming to be easier than anticipated. You can easily turn bands off and on. There's also a Quick Powerup mode which I find quite useful.

Weakness:

When you receive it the POP mode is disabled. I went ahead and enabled it and I got quite a few false alarms from other radar detectors. I know for a fact this was the problem after getting 'popped' going under an overpass. It was dark and I was convinced I had been caught when I saw the headlights rapidly approaching me from behind...turns out it was just a false alarm from a mustang with a similar radar detector.

Outstanding detector!! I just took my first major road trip across 7 states and over 2000 miles. I made great time and never got stopped! I had a Vector 960 previously and the range just didn't cut it. I was stopped by a state trooper in Mississippi with the 960, but with the new extended range of the RX65 I had plenty of time to compensate! If you do mostly city driving I wouldn't dish out the $300 bucks, but if your a frequent interstate driver this is a must buy!!

Weakness:

Wow, until you use an RX65, you dont know how many cops there are in FL shooting radar. The RX65 has superior K and KA band sensitivity and falses significantly less than other detectors. The range is unbelievable and the features are endless. Alerts come in plenty of time, the display is Red and clear day or night. It is made of a durable dark gray, metallic looking plastic composite, it feels expensive to the touch. It feels slightly heavy though. The power cord that comes with the unit, has a Green LED for power, an Red LED for Alert The unit does detect radar very well, especially K and Ka bands.

Strength:

Overall design, sensitivity selection, overall sensitivity

Weakness:

Complex programming, way too sensitive and a lot of falsing in some modes.

Decent detector. Strangely inconsistant (strong and sometimes no radar detection at all) on fixed consistant radar sources. On Ka international mode, way too many false alarms. Definitely pay attention to the details with the programming of the unit. Overall, a decent detector at a decent price. So far, in a month, so good.
