Strength:
This radar detector is easy to read with great voice sound. Its has about 60 different voice messeges, and has lots of different features.
Weakness:
Its very sensitive to the x, k band giving lots of false detection being around Walgreens, Winndixie, and very few stop lights. But this is normal for most radar detectors. I love this radar detector so much. I can go to the beach from Orlando going about 120 mph on cruize control in about 20 minutes with out being caught by law inforcement. For just having this radar for less than a month, it performs very well for the price. It has a solid sound to it, very well on long distance radar detecting. This radar detector has saved me 6 times so far this month. I highley recomend this radar detector. Similar Products Used: Fuzzbuster 3500 (can not compare to the Bel 800) |

Strength:
The radar detects cops from a very far distance. It works great on the a long trip and save me alot of money. The display is easy to read. You will surely know when it is a really cop or just a false alarm. Signal strength scale is also nice and pretty accurate. One thing is for sure if you don't like the voice that tells you the band you have the option to turn that dumb thing off. I think it is just annoying........
Weakness:
The false alarms noise that you have to put with. Even you put it on the auto mute mode. This thing still gives a annoying clicking sound. It would be nice if the volume can be adjusted louder for when i have the music up. Well there is a price to pay for any radar detector. With this one you have to put up with a little bit of false alarm but what detector don't have those. Well for the price that you are paying for it is well worth it. I am sure this product will not dissappoint you. Similar Products Used: Whistler 1655/ Can't turn off the voice alert!!!!!!!! |

This is an incredible detector when it comes down to long range sensitivty. In my mind better than valentine one, Do you really want to know when a cop is 6-8 miles away?, all i need is a great detector like this that will work 2-3 miles out which is great considering most police do not extend beyond half a mile.
Weakness:
The only problem so far has been the false alarms I get. Its a small price to pay, and one can tell whether its false or not, it falses mainly with x band and x band is very old detection technology by police, odds are its a microwave in a house 3 miles away, this should not be a big turn off its really not that bad. I strongly recomend this as a great buy for your money. This detector comes with a clip for seperate visor mount, dash mount, or windshield mount. At circuit city I was able to buy a 3 year full coverage plan for 20 bucks which is a wise decision. You can find it for less than circuit city offers it at but make sure you are not buying a refurbished one as those can be defective. Similar Products Used: NA |

Strength:
Very sensitive to ka band. Sensitivity for k and x bands is also pretty good. Audio alarms are very clear and even the voice alerts are pretty good. Lots of features for the money. The text display is easy to read.
Weakness:
The BEL 880 is, as stated above, pretty sensitive, so you may encounter a few false alarms in city driving. The volume control leaves something to be desired. Overall, a very good detector at a good price (the lowest prices I found start at $129). Completely outperforms the old Whistler and has performed well in tests. In summary, a great detector for those of us unwilling to spend the big bucks for a Valentine One. Similar Products Used: Whistler 1430 -- older unit, no comparison to the BEL. |

Strength:
Decent sensitivity.
Weakness:
Fair amount of false signals. Windshield bracket. Voice quality. Pretty good sensitivity but quite a few false signals. I guess it's a trade off. Voice alert was not very clear. Had it off most of the time. Windshield bracket was difficult to adjust when moving it from car to car. You need to carry a screw driver with you all the time. If all you're looking for is better sensitivity than most other detectors, then it's a good unit. Otherwise, there are other detectors that are more user friendly. Strength:
Gives plenty of detection range. Up to 3 miles, Ka range is about 1.5 miles. Easy to use. Good price for its performance.
Weakness:
Quite a bit of false alarms. Low radar sensitivity. Pick up range on roadside cameras are around 10 yards. Its cheap for its performance. I would recommend this radar detector to ppl that don't want to spend $400 on a valentine 1, but has good performance. The reason why I bought this bel 980, is because my Cobra esd-9200 sucks really bad. It detects radar when your 1/4 of a mile away from the cop. The Bel880 is really good at picking up X, K, and KA bands. Similar Products Used: Cobra ESD-9200 |

Strength:
Did detect cops sometimes.
Weakness:
Doesn't work in real time situations like when you can't already see the cop. I find this product to be inferior in many ways to start i got pulled over, and with out a warning that the cop was even there. I would think that for a radar detector it would sense radar, but i guess that would be asking to much. If you want a product that detects cops about as well as you can see them than this is the detector for you, but if you want one that actually has function get a better model or a scrambler.
