2001 Audio Control EQX II
Strength:
Very Clean, Name alone says it all. JUST GO FOR IT! NO REGRETS!
Weakness:
Needs more flexibilty. 2 sets of inputs, would be great so it has fader. Wish the knobs could stay in place. Check it once in a while. This is one piece of awesome machinery. I had no problem of noise nor anything else. What did it do for my system you asked? I can tell you it made it sound a whole lot cleaner. I was so amazed by the crisp highs (it made it sound like a concert) It's the best money you will spend. I had all kinds of different brands I used. Like Alpine, Sony, Clarion. True they have more flexibility, more features but for sound quality these brands could not match it. Pick up this EQ and some good amplifiers. (I have Earthquake Power House Amplifiers) You will be really satisfied! Here is my subwoofer product review, because they don't have the name brand listed! I am currently using a pair of Digital Acoustik DA10" subs. After initial break in period you could hear these subwoofers get deeper and deeper. They go into .55 cubic ft. enclosures. (VERY SMALL) I got these for $125.00 for a pair. They have 80 ounce magnets, dual 4ohm voice coil for flexibilty, and a 2" vented voice coil. Magnet and frame is chrome so it also looks trick. You could mount these upside down and show them off! Similar Products Used: Alpine, CLarion, Sony |

Thumbs up. Good accuracy frequency control. Believe me, this product will kick out all your speaker performance.
Weakness:
EQX only have 2 inputs. This is a very hard problem. My Pioneer head unit had 3 outputs so i can''t use the fader and subwoofer control. If your have newer head unit with subwoofer and rear output, than you better get the newest audio control product, E-Q-S. I''ve got this product 5 years ago and WORK VERY WELL, mixed together with my 2 soundstream amp, 1 orion hcca amp, 2 jl audio sub, and my favourite speaker MB Quart Pro Series. THE EQX had controlled all the frequency needed to get good sound quality, no need an expert to do this. Just do it (by yourself). Similar Products Used: Audio Control EQX Series One. |

Strength:
versatility, sound quality (especially for an EQ), infinity variable crossiver point.
Weakness:
even though the EQ knobs are very flat they still tend to move over time somehow. Some people have problems with these things picking up too much noise. I had a small problem at first but if you work at it and do it right you'll be OK. You have to take the cover off a change out a component to change crossover frequency. I actually prefer this as I can set it very precise and not have to worry about it changing. I can't believe no one has reviewed the EQX yet. This is the ultimate EQ/Crossover. Extremely versatile. As well as a 13 band EQ this unit has one crossover point that you can adjust anywhere from 20Hz to 20KHz using a plugin resistor network for precise adjustement. It has stereo Low Pass outputs, stereo High Pass outputs, stereo Full Range outputs, a Mono Low PAss output and an inverted Low Pass output. Awesome. For example, if you wanted to use the crossover between the tweeters and woofers of a component system you can use the low pass and high pass outputs for the component system (say the fronts), then use the full range outputs on your other speakers (rears), and the mono low pass output for a sub. This is how I had my system originally. More recently I've purchased a new component system for the front and I'm happy with the passive crossovers so now I'm using the available crossover between my Infinity Perfect 12.1 sub and the front component system. So the High Pass output goes to my front component system, the Low Pass output goes to the sub, and the Full Range output goes to the rears (which are low pass filtered at the amplifier). As you can imagine this thing is very versatile and the 13-band EQ works on the whole system. It's just too perfect. Similar Products Used: None |

EQX II audio control
Strength:
Sound quality is superb no coloration. Linkwitz-Riley cross-over. Equalization is as precise as it can get. More than a great value for what you pay.
Weakness:
There are two weak point I encountered...1) the knobs, they turn easily. 2) NOISE but this can be prevented if you get the right EQ setting. This can be really tricky and frustrating to amateur installers. Installed on a HONDA accord 99 with ALPINE head unit, MB QUART 6 1/2 component system, MB QUART 6x9, Two Infinity Kappa 100 AMP, Infinity BETA 100, MTX Tri-box. I installed all the components myself and i must say the EQX-II has transformed my ride into a concert hall. I have yet to see an EQUALIZER to match the EQX-II. Just be careful with your EQ gains and settings for you might end up with "NOISE". I suggest that you mark your EQ settings for this will help you when the knob settings are accidentaly turned. To all amateur installers like me the EQX-II will teach you a whole lot more of "sound quality", gain settings and equalization at it's best. Similar Products Used: None |

EQX Concert Series
Strength:
No sound coloration, excellent performance, easy install, easy to match all the gains up to the head unit output and amp input (you over do it and crank that gain to get the volume, this will cause the noise.)Gain overdone with no line driver = distortion.
Weakness:
Needs another input to allow for front and rear fading..a pain to get it to sound balanced when hooked in a front/ highpass, rear/ fullrange, and sub lowpass. Firstly, WOW!!! I hooked it up and it was like I put in a new system. No coloration at all...easy to adjust (my knobs are covered and away from vibration of the subs in a separate bin, so they don't "mysteriously move")and actually made my system sound louder, in reality, it just cleaned up the irregularities caused by cabin gains inside my VW Golf. Have a pair of Separates of front (soundstream exact 6.5") and punchy midbass was finally a reality. Used with clean power output from amps, this is really a nice finshing piece to a sytem which sounds really good but like it is missing something.
