Strength:

12 disks

Weakness:

Loading or changing a disk. The CD holder housing door.

Bought this last year and had it professionally installed by a Pioneer certified company. Or so they said. First the door that closes and keeps the magazine safe is very cheap. It came off it's track the second time I used it. How it is stuck in the half open position. Cheap plastic. The control display was mounted with the 2 sided tape and came off the first day. When the power is shut off it loses it's memory and wants to search all 12 disks when I start the truck. Slow load times, slow disk to play. I had a Sony before this and will buy Sony again next time. Pioneer needs to get a better Quality control on it's Car CD' players. I hate taking 5 minutes to change or add a CD since I fight the unit to open or especially to close the door. It's still not closed but jammed half shut.

Strength:

DOES NOT SKIP!
Great sound; easy to install; CD-TEXT; ability to program CD titles; will play only favorite selections if desired; wireless remote

Weakness:

Display is not bright enough

I researched CD changers thoroughly before I bought this unit. It is the one to buy if you need an RF changer. Lots of features, great sound, easy install and it doesn't skip. You can program CD titles, select favorite tracks to play, play CD-R's. It's a fantastic unit, and I have no regrets.

If you don't want to mess with your existing FM setup, or you don't have a head unit that will control a changer, this is the one for you.

Strength:

Surprisingly good sound through the radio

Weakness:

nada

This was professionally installed for $300 total. And I mean profressional.
The control unit was mounted on my dash, to where it almost looks stock.
12 is the way to go! It's very solid, and plays very nicely through the radio. Better than I would have expected.
The remote is a nice touch, but I rarely use it. Programming in the names of albums is cute, but a lot of trouble to do every time you change out disks.
Overall, a good unit that adds a lot of pleasure in traffic, or on a long haul.

Strength:

The ease of installation and the price.

Weakness:

It does not come with the IP-BUS cable to hook up with a Multi cd changer head unit. Anyone know where I can get one of these cables in Turkey?

I paid $199.00 (brand new)----excellent price for what ya get. I would recommend it.....as long as you know the IP-bus cable is not supplied with this unit and it is a pain to find on the net. Other than that it is good.

Strength:

12 disc capacity, elapsed time on display, disc title, wireless remote, program tracks

Weakness:

display hard to see during the day, high frequency soud quality to as good as indash or a cd changer controled unit

After having a cd changer for over 3 years you get use to it. I purchased a Dodge Durango which has amfm/cas/cd but no cd changer option. I wanted to keep the steering wheel audio controls and still have cassette, and liked the big buttons on the deck. So, geting an fm modualted changer was the best cost effective option.

It was $325 installed which didn't seem that bad for 12 disc. The sound is acceptable considering you are limted by the fm frequency response. It has features that my Eclpise cd changer didn't have: disc title, elapsed time, programing tracks. I really like having the remote wireless remote, that is the biggest reason i got it. Those buttons on the wired one are small and you can put the display out of the way so it want take away from the factory dash.

Overall I'd recommend it if you have a factory deck and just looking to add cd. No disc to change while driving, especially at night.

Strength:

This changer has a lot of usefull features, especially the disc naming feature, which I would not be without, especially since it has 12 discs. My last changer did not have this, and I can still remember going through all the discs, then waiting for the first track to play in order to find the CD I wanted. It only skiped once so far in my Ford Taurus, this is probably because of our great Canadian roads, that are victims of our harsh winters.

Weakness:

When the car is shut off, it sometimes does not remember the track where it left off, what part of the track or occasionaly what CD. The display could be brighter, it is difficult to see when the sun is shining inside the car. This may be a problem with most RF changers, as my previous changer was run through the cassete receiver, I don't know.

I would recommend this changer, but I have heard a few bad things about Pioneer. It's definitely a great changer because of all the features. I especialy recomend it if you have a car like mine (Ford Taurus) with the impossible to replace oval radio, and (like me) refuse to give the Ford dealer 800$ for a factory changer, with no disc titling feature.

Similar Products Used:

My previous changer was a Kenwood, bought in 1992, it was run through a Kenwood head unit. I don't like the new pioneer changer as much as my previous Kenwood changer. It did not have disc titling, but it seemed to have better construction than the lighter weight Pionneer. My Kenwood changer hardly ever skipped, even when the shocks of my 1990 Dodge Shadow were completely gone.

Strength:

Sounds great. CD has never skipped

Weakness:

none

I thought music through the radio sounded good but what a difference once I got this CD changer. It is great to be able to load 12 CD's up and not bother with it for a while. I also like the digital display and the tiny remote. One good feature it has is the ability to put in CD titles that will scroll across the display if you take the time to input them. I have not taken the time to do this but I can see why this would come in handy because its easy to forget which slot you put the CD into. Even if you take the CD out and put it in a different slot it will remember the name of the disk. You can also program different songs to be played in whatever order. There are other features but those are the best ones. I bought mine from Brandsmart for $228.00 great price!

Strength:

Nothing short of hitting it with a hammer will make it skip. Good sound quality through radio and factory one at that. Even with the cost of installation, only $200 for a 12-disc changer? You can't beat that. Plus the wireless remote works from just about anywhere.

Weakness:

The controller is a little small and I'm here to tell you the tape supplied to hold it to the dash doesn't hold up in this Alabama heated interiors. I finally moved it over the steering wheel where it fits nicely. The case seems a little cheap, but with strong guts inside, who cares!

Already had an in-dash CD player, but got tired of always changing them out. Had the changer on sale at Sam's for $150, so I snagged it. Had it professionally installed and have had no problems at all with it.
The roads down here aren't exactly in the greatest shape but even over potholed roads and railroad crossings, I have never had it skip.

I owned a six-disc changer way back and it skipped on the same roads this one doesn't on. Never had any problems with Pioneer units. I'm a loyal brand follower.
