Strength:

Cheap, works ok, flip-front and the easy handling. Dual preout.

Weakness:

The display can´t be viewed from all angels. You should mount it low so you see the display

Well worth it´s price!

Model Reviewed: Sony CDX-C580

Strength:

Easy to use and control, constant clock AND track number display, detachable face, radio station naming, can eject CD when car is off

Weakness:

Broke after 2 1/2 years

I bought one 2 and a half years ago and have loved it since. It was decently priced, and I definately prefer the knob for volume over repeatedly pressing or holding down a button. The track up/down lever was nice too. Has the ablity to name radio stations, so you can remember what is on each one (can program up 20 FM and 10 AM I believe). Display was clear and could set it so the clock was always shown (along with track number and timer). I hate CD players that you have to fold down the face to switch CDs (this one you just slide it in, old school style). I also love the detachable face. Who does a black panel or faceplate that flips around really fool? "Hey, that guy has a flat, black area right in the middle of his dash! I wonder what that could be?" DUH! The dual preamp outputs were nice too, one for front and one for rear, so you it worked kinda like a crossover (the subs in the rear preamp got more bass than if you hooked 'em up to the preamp labeled front). The fact that the car did NOT have to be on to eject a CD was nice too. Unfortunatly, mine just took a dump on me (after 2 and a half years). So my overall review is, I loved it, but didn't last as long as I would have liked.

Kenwood, Aiwa -- Much easier to control. It took me a week to figure out how to set the clock on my girl's Kenwood (Not listed in manual, had to e-mail company). The Aiwa was almost as nice, but had more buttons as opposed to the knobs which I prefer.
