Sick display,13 band adjustable EQ,fullfunction remote, built in alarm, selectable sub/non fade control with level adjustment, traffic alert, high and low pass crossovers, motorized face,6.5 volt preamp outputs, automatically plays through scratched spots in cd's,cd changer control,AUX input, multiple EQ display settings (that aren't fake), etc...........isn't that enough already????
Weakness:
display gets hard to see in daytime after a few years, rubber buttons wear out and need repair (the deck's worth it), and.........That's about it for me. I chose this deck from a huge variety of top models/brands and it's been bumpin hard ever since I first got it in 2001. I even got it used too. I'm only gonna swap it out if pioneer decides to make an EXACT version with all the same features but as a newer version. I havent seen the same quality yet though. Similar Products Used: I have used just about every brand and level of cd players over the last 11 years and haven't found one I've liked more, except for maybe some of the colored units, but it seems no other deck yet has as many good features all in one package like the DEH-P900R. Yeah.....THAT's RIGHT!!! |

Premier DEH-P900R
Strength:
RDS, Sub LPF, Front and MID HPF. Built-in, crossover and 13-band custom EQ. multiple displays to chose from, Display.
Weakness:
No RCA-inputs, even though AUX is listed as one of the modes you can select. The rubber buttons are starting to show wear and tear. It was worth every penny and still going strong, very powerful and as good or better than most newer radios today. Similar Products Used: Alpine(CDA-9835)& Kenwood(Excelon KDC-X979)Head units |

NONE!! NONE!! I've had 3 other Pioneer CD headunits but this premier P900R is by far the best ever. I always recieve props on the style and power. I've the unit, Premier 4way 6x9's, Diamond 6.25 components, 2 Rockford Fosgate 10's, a Fosgate 4 channel amp, and Orion 2 channel amp. Nothing but PURE, CRISP, CLEAN, POWER!!! Strength:
-Complete, precise control over subwoofers and interieor speakers. -Very crisp sound quality, even without amplifiers. -Great graphics. -Superior warranty service.
Weakness:
-My display started to fade on one side after about 1&1/2 years. I took it to my local authorized repair shop and had it fixed in 3 days, no charge. This is the only problem I've had, and the reason I will continue to buy Pioneer products. Worth every penny. Best thing about it: ultimate control of your music. The EQ and imaging options are fun and easy to use, and the displays are still the best in the market. Suggest first time buyers get a lower model without all the extras. Experienced listeners will really appreciate the extensive tuning options and audio quality in a single unit. Similar Products Used: Panasonic, Sony, Kenwood, and Alpine - all fairly good products. |

After looking at this head unit in the store for a month or so, I finally broke down and bought it. But not only because of the awesome display, but because of the built-in crossover and 13-band custom EQ. Plus the 3 6.5V pre-outs are a nice touch too. Almost every feature you could want...
Weakness:
Except for there are no RCA-inputs, even though AUX is listed as one of the modes you can select. The rubber buttons on mine are starting to show a little wear and tear, but nothing that has effected the head unit in any way other than looks. I paid $600 about two months after this head unit came out. (Less than what Best Buy was asking for the DEH-P8000R.) And I still feel like I got a good deal. But if I was to go and buy one today, it would be the newer model, DEH-P920R and try and pay about $500-$550 for it. Similar Products Used: For the longest time I was Alpine only, but when I went to buy a new head unit last year after getting my car and seen this, I went with it. No regrets, I personally think it sounds a bit cleaner and the feature set is not of that to be easily contested. |

Verrrrry nice head unit. I really enjoy the busy display. It has every feature that I could ever imagine to use. Great EQ, I really like the fact that you can put in your own EQ setting. Love the multiple displays you can chose from. Great head unit.
Weakness:
About 7 months of use, very recently, i had a power connection come loos on the baord and had to get it fixed, but that is the only complaint with this great unit. (It was fixed very quickly under the warranty) Love the product, Paid $449 from carmedia1.com. Great deal, shop online if you want to find a great price, I've seen the 8000 the comparable model for over 640 at best buy, The display and other features are also a billion times better then the 8000. Im very happy with it. I dont think it is for everyone, has many features and several menus, but I love it. Similar Products Used: Other Pioneer, DEH835R. |

Great CD reciever!!! The best one I owned yet!!! 6.5 volts/3 pre-amp outputs & Aux output. Nice graphical displays. I did my homework. It's alot of $$$ to invest in just a CD reciever for a non-competition guy like me. Way better than the P8000R model (but same display) Runs about the same price. Alot of features!!! Built in car alarm system with up-gradeable options too.
Weakness:
They came out with the Premier P920R (2000 model). Most Pioneer CD reciever for 2000, it's MSRP is cheaper than the 1998-1999 models (but P900R MSRP is the same as the 2000 model). Not too sure of the reliablity of how long the graphics display (faceplate) will last (hopefull more than 2 years). Wish they had more graphical entertainment display, but I'm not complaining. MSRP $780. I bought mines refurbished for $390. It's still a fortune!!! But it's to impress the girlies, and believe me they're impressed. Don't buy if you are cheap, (but don't you think you're worth it). I really want to get my hands on the Premier P1R (higher model)- If you know where to get if for under $450 new or refurbished, please e-mail me havhav@hotmail.com Would appreciate it!!!! Have fun. Similar Products Used: Used Kenwood ExCelon KDC-711 Sells for $400 (bought mines for $250). Made somewhat at the same time. Kenwood has 4V/ 2 preamps. Mechanical MASK feature. Great sound, but nothing compared to the Pioneer. Kenwood has alot of gears which can break. I hate being fragile with it, but I have to. I like to keep my stuff nice and neat. Choose the Pioneer if you have the model. It's worth it. |

This Unit is nice. CD player is flawless. RDS is great with y100.3FM. Features are nice; RDS, Sub LPF, Front and MID HPF, 13 band EQ, 6.4 volts, etc... Remote is great. The rubber buttons are the front may wear but this shouldnt be a problem because all the functionality should be accessed through the remote.
Weakness:
the only problem i have is the sub integraion with the unit. i'm using a soundstream usa 364 to power the front speakers and the 10" Rockford Fosgate sub. The sub (or amp) doesnt begin to play any music until i turn the volume above 15 (out of 40) after turning the unit on for the first time. the unit is great. my system sounds great dispute using factory ford explorer speakers.
