Strength:
Great level of technology packed in a unit this price range.
Weakness:
Hard to reach menu system, but no problem for tweakers. The best head unit i ever had, it's simplicity and performance in every way. I have 4 JBL 3 way speakers attached to its power outputs, and a medium amp with a 12" sub driven by its internal crossover outs... the sound is so impressive and loud, everyone gets amazed at the fact that i have no crossover nor external EQ installed, only the DEH-P400. Strength:
Beautiful Face (detachable), Pioneer Name, Plays CD-Rs, Nice Equalizer Functions, Plenty of Wattage, Titling, Quick Loading, Cool Remote, & Much More
Weakness:
It took four hours for Best Buy to hook it up and totaled about $650 ...but that's because I drive a nightmarishly wired Cadillac which needed a new CD player anyway. The deh-P4000 is a great product....when it come to car receivers, there's Pioneer, and then there's everything else. It took me a while to get used to it. There are many bells and whistles. It puts out some clean nice sound to my Bose speakers. I'd recommend it...or better yet...go with the 2000 model (P4100) Similar Products Used: None |

Easy Eq is awesome, it makes equalization easy for people who don't even
Weakness:
The Pioneer Premier DEH-P400 uses the new Mosfet 45 chip, which can cause the treble to become unbearably harsh, especially at high volume, although adding an external amplfier will eliminate this problem. I paid $220 for my premier, and I would highly recommend the DEH-P400, but especially if you are planning to eventually add an external amp. The receiver has lots of audio adjustment, so it's truly an audiophile's dream come true (especially for the price). I might also add that if you have component speakers, this receiver can power many of them, without a separate amp, as long as you use some kind of a treble reduction system (such as the ones built into many component speaker's crossovers) with at least 6dB of treble reduction. I have had the receiver almost a year and a half, and I have never had a skipping problem, and have been happy with the receiver. Similar Products Used: Alpine, Clarion Proaudio |

Strength:
Features, amount of control of EQ, good signal, reads CDR's, NEVER skipps (i dont know what this other person is talking about), remote control seem pretty good in terms of reaching at any angle and from decent distances (outside the car), disc titles
Weakness:
Awkward menu system - something as simple as pause could take up to 5 button clicks to get to. I only use this unit as a pre-amp so i cant comment on the amount of power it can deliver by itself, but from what i know, pioneer premier amps are pretty good. I think as far as the CD-Player goes, it is superb. Never had skipping problems and i've gone over some HUGE bumps and potholes. I have the unit hooked up to an Alpine MRV-F303 amp and a Phoenix Gold Xs2300 and the signal seems to be pretty undestorted and clean. The amount of tweaking possible with this unit is excellent. One of the few to offer a parametric EQ. However, simple things like Random play, pause, etc are idiotically placed within a menu system. Personally i think pause is pretty important and should be accessible easily. Similar Products Used: Denon tape reciever (not on the same level) |
