Strength:
3 sets of 5 volt preouts, animated screens, sharp look when installed, stands out above the rest, with the traditional 2-knob look that appears to be coming back. great crossover network. time alignment is good if it fits your setup
Weakness:
motorized faceplate- when used a lot, has a tendency to jam open. i had two of these identical units in two different cars and both had to be sent out twice to repair same problems. all repairs were covered under pioneer warranty, but i had to send it out for 2 weeks each time. units are both still working fine a year after the last repairs. i purchased this cd player at first for its looks- neat, flashy screen, and for the specs in the owners manual. comes with a nice remote, not the cheapy one that comes with most pioneers. when you take the time to properly adjust the time alignment in a good system, it reproduces a pretty amazing imaging in the car, greatly increasing mid bass and making you feel center-stage. also, when set to pro-mode (if you can figure it out) it gives you a pretty decent three way crossover network. very happy with the unit. i purchased at wholesalers cost which was still pricey, retail is almost double that. but, if you want a high end head unit, you have to pay for it Similar Products Used: pioneer deh-p980 bt, deh-p8600mp, deh-p 7600mp(?) |
