Strength:

Great sound, excellent features, high quality, display

Weakness:

May be a bit complex to use for the technologicly impaired. The face plate is a little tricky to attach and remove.

This Pioneer is designed to command a full audio system. If you intend to simply hook up some speakers to it, get something else. If you are going to run a few amplifiers with some nice separates and subs, this is a great unit. The built in high-pass filters and subwoofer controls are pretty darn good. They don’t afford the same level of control that a full featured crossover network would offer, but you might be surprised at just how good a job it can do all by itself. The unit has a great sound and the overall build quality is excellent. The display is bright and easy to read and offers pretty intuitive menus for those who understand car audio.

I think this is a great overall unit. If you hunt on the Web, it can be had for about $450. Most stores sell it for about $575. Retail is $650.

Strength:

Very accurate sound reproduction, endless user options, endless tunability, very nice display.

If you want nice bass in your car, but don't necessarily want to run amps and subs, installing this unit and upgrading your existing speakers is a nice way to go. I paid a ridiculously low price on the head unit - friend who owns an mobile audio shop - but even if I didn't have the hook up, I would still pay the going retail price of $649 for it. I am, however, going to take this head unit out and put it into my girlfriend's car once the pieces of my Alpine system are here - still waiting for MD changer from Japan.

This is the 14th head unit I have used in my cars over the years. It definitely rates high among all the other ones I have used from Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse and other Pioneer units.

The most advanced unit I have ever seen and I'm glad I made the right choice in buying this head unit. I haven't had any problem with this head unit. Words can't explain this deck.

THE best head unit in terms of looks, sound, and features. Basically the best head unit on the market. This head unit is going to set the standard in the industry as far as the display goes and sound quality. The clarion decks could use some help in the display category, their displays are weak and have big pixels, oh did i mention they dont have 3D animation? No other head unit compares even close.

Overall this cd player is awesome and definately worth the money. If you can afford it, go out and get one. I was lucky and only paid $420 with tax included. It's good to have connections =).

This cd player is nice but I dont think its worth the money, your mostly paying for the display, which gets old after a week or so. I wish I would have just got a lower model pioneer and saved a bunch of money, but oh well. Its definitely not a bad cd player, its just not worth the money.

This is an awesome unit! A true sound experience for car audiophiles. This unit kicks ass in every catagory including sound, visual display and value! Compared to the Alpine CVA 1000, the Pioneer 8000r is of parallel quality.
