Model Reviewed: 2000 DEH P600

Strength:

Loads of features, 3 sets of RCA's, selectable hp and lp filters with sub amp gain control from the deck, Great sounding internal amplifier, easy to use/program settings and menus.

Weakness:

Well, the Output IC's in the internal amp are blown, so now the deck lacks the punch and crispness it had when new. I think I just got a bad one, and hope to get it repaired or replaced. Other than having the problem with the amp, I haven't noticed any other weaknesses.

The P600 has everything that most people could ever want in a headunit. Power, clarity, seperate sub output plus two other sets of RCA's for front and rear, internal high pass and low pass filters, etc. I never had any problems until just recently with the deck. The internal amp in mine hasn't held up. It's got some blown channels, and took one of my rear speakers with it. I get a feeling that I just happened to get a lemon one, because most people I know who have premiere headunits, never have any problems with theirs, and they never baby them. Besides having an amplifier problem that needs fixing, the deck put out loud and clear sound, with excellent smoothness and detail. I'm still finding features on it that I didn't know it had, more than a year later. I originally wanted this deck for all the features it had, but I also ended up choosing it because it doesn't look like a spaceship console from Startrek! lol! I have a 1978 car, and most of the new headunits would look stupid in it, especially with a silver faceplate and flashing colour display and blue or red buttons (doesn't anyone make headunits to suit oldschool cars anymore? lol!). I'd like to get the amp sorted out, and keep this unit simply because I love the features it has, and love it's ease of use with the onscreen navigation for the menu's. I think Premeire headunits are an excellent buy, and would recommend them to anybody wanting to upgrade their factory system.
