Strength:

Good tight sound with excellent bass control. Very easy to use (and therefore useful!!) EQ. Built in alarm and detachment reminder. Looks cool. VERY STABLE AND EXCELLENT CD TRANSPORT!!!

Weakness:

The display is unuseable during he day, but very nice at night.

Had to get a new CD oplayer ASAP after my JVC was stolen. I wound up with the Pioneer cause that's all they had but I've been very happy with it. CD sounds in particular are tight, well defined and sonorous. Tuner is very good with excellent separation and freq. response, but doesn't seem as sensitive as the specs would suggest. Wish it had direct track selection for the CD like the JVC did, and the display is absolutely unusuable during the day. However, its lovely at night. A nice deck.

Strength:

The equalizer works great
Good power output
Cool display
Good radio reception

Weakness:

I'd prefer a knob for volume control

I've got the premium version (DEH-300). I like the price to performance aspect. I don't have any problem reading the display during daytime. The Equalizer alone almost makes this an excellent deck, the other features are a bonus.

Strength:

CD Changer capable
3 Customizeable Frequencies for each "range" setting of Low/Mid/High
Read's CD-R Media PERFECTLY
Physicaly Looks cooler then other brands :)

Weakness:

No Remote
No Sub output
Aparently not as bright as DEH-4000

I was just going to comment, that the display "was" bright, but in reading the last review, I read "Try the DEH-P4000" which is what I have, I just thought the only difference between the 3000 and the 4000 was the remote, but I guess there are more differences then just that... Aparently the 4k is brighter then the 3k!

This deck is the absolute best for price-to-features efficiency. It has all the excellent features of the higher-end Pioneer decks like built-in EEQ parametric equalizer, detachable face, multi-color diplay, MOSFET 45x4 amp, DFS alarm, cd-changer control and disc titling, and more. The only thing it lacks is the "organic" display and built-in crossover for subwoofer. The built-ing equalizer is so completely customizable and so much fun! The MOSFET amp gets rid of the need for external amps (except for subs) and is very clean and powerful. This is an absolutely incredible deck! It's MSRP is $265 but it's around $200 at most stores, or you can do like I did and buy it at an on-line auction (I got it for $144 at www.onsale.com). My only dissapointment is that the display could be a little brighter (try the DEH-P4000). Even so, I give this deck a solid 5 for its excellent features and low-low price.

Summary: Excellent features for the price (£150UK for DEH-P3000R).The best bits are the mosfet outputs giving excellent bass control and the custom EQ allowing me to tune out a 1.5kHz peak which existed in the car.

The display is unreadable in daylight though. I also had the unit repaired under warranty to cure a dry joint (intermittent total loss of sound).

Model Reviewed: 99 Pontiac Grand Am

Strength:

Lots of power, reads CD-Rs nearly flawlessly, smooth cd loading, display nice at night.

Weakness:

Display dim during the day.

This is a very good player. After scouting similar products, (Sony, Kenwood, etc.) this one had the most bang for it's buck at this price, along with the most options. I've had this for almost a year, and don't feel as though it has gone out of date, even though an updated model has shown up.

The alarm is really loud and obnoxious (turned all the way up) so it may drive a potential theif nuts causing them to run away screaming if they're trying to rip you off. Give yourself enough time between getting into your car and replacing the face, or the high itched squeal may attract the neighborhood dogs.

I have alot of burned CDs, and this one plays all of them, with only a few glitches every now and then but only with cheap CD-R's. If you're a fan of playing your burned CD's, this is for you.

Overall, highly recommended.
