Great looks, tons of options and features, and most important, sounds excellent!
Weakness:
As the other reviewer wrote, I wish you could display the clock along with the stations info as well. I read Melanie's review and had somewhat of a similar experience. I love the looks and sounds of it, and it has always worked great. But one morning I got in my truck, and it never powered on. I tried in vain everything I knew and ended up taking it to a sound installer. There was an internal problem with the power supply. They sent it back to the Kenwood Factory for a replacement. Kenwood did not charge for the repair, which was nice. Just sucked listening to a crappy boombox for 2 weeks until I got it back. But besides that episode, I give a very high thumbs up! |

Great sound. Looks cool. A lot of options. Closes up when you don't want people touching it.
Weakness:
Starting having problems with the face plate unfolding when I turn on the car. (see summary) I have had this head unit for about 2 years and it sounds great, but all of a sudden I started having problems with it opening. The face plate is supposed to fold open when you turn on the car and for some reason sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed that I usually have problems with it early in the morning when it's still cold. It will start to open and then stop and the power will go off. I then have to drive to work in complete silence. The only way to get it going again is to hold down the source button until the power goes on. This usually takes quite a few tries to work. I'm not sure if it's just considered an old head unit after two years or if there's really something wrong with it. I figured a head unit retailing at $400 would last longer than two years. Making me think twice about buying kenwood again. |

3d-Mask Pro hides the unit when off deterring thieves. Audio options, fully customizable sound with high pass X-overs built in so you don't need an amp for your door speakers. Sub-woofer out is beneficial if you are just looking for bass from the speakers. Bright screen. The audio customization and the 3-D Mask Pro are why I bought it.
Weakness:
You can either select to display the track name or the clock, but not both. I would like to have both displayed. Would be nice if you were able to add a new movie display to it. Supplied movies are a bit boring. Best in Dash cd-player on the Market. Most sound options of any player. Kenwood is definitely the brand to stick with. They have the most sound options of any player. Most only have a bass and treble control, this has bass, mid and treble with full high and low pass X-over custiomizing. |
