Strength:

-Very stable when playing MP3s (not a single skip in my 1994 Camry over speed bumps and assorted ruts.) -Wide range of useful features (scrolling ID3 tags, display dimmer, option of turning off unreadable and not especially useful graphic display, versatile tone controls. -Sensitive and good sounding tuner section. -Readable and flexible display. -Understated styling (no pinball machine flashes like the Aiwas and Jensens).

Weakness:

-Complex menus and tiny buttons require caution when driving (I plan to get the optional steering wheel-mounted remote). -MP3 don''t seem to sound quite as good as the radio, a little harsh and restricted, but still listenable at reasonable volume. Not sure why, but I''m guessing a lower output level from the MP3 section is causing the internal amp to strain a bit. At 22x4 watts the internal amp is a little underpowered for high quality speakers (my Camry has 6 1/2" and 6x9 Alpines). An outboard amp is recommended for best sound (I have a 60X4 Fosgate amp that I intend to hook up ASAP.

A great unit which provides all the benefits of the MP3 format in addition to a great sounding tuner.

Nothing for the car with MP3 capability, but a cheap AIWA radio/cassette player and a Clarion CD/radio deck.

Strength:

Just great MP3 capabilities

Weakness:

Takes long to switch between folders when reading MP3 CDs

Clear sound, great MP3 player features. It reads scratched CDs with no skips. It reads CD-r and CD-RW with music format or with MP3 files.

Strength:

Detailed and powerful sound. The tuner picks up lots of stations with good separation.

Weakness:

Had a great deal of trouble playing regular CDs. The unit would refuse to play some tracks. It would also freeze and the random play would sometimes be unable to lock onto a track. I did not try playing MP3s but the store unit refused to play some of the tracks.

Great sound and tuner. Technical problems prevent recommendation.

Strength:

Playes Mp3!

Weakness:

you need to manual open the panel if you want to eject the cd.

A very good car stereo. the sound is clear, even with MP3 saved at low details.
The visual is pretty good.

it takes about 1 -1.5 seconds to move from song to song, but when u have more then 150 songs on a CD, who cares?

It's really good!

Strength:

Great sound quality, MP3 capability, ID3 suport, Fold Name support,
2 sets of pre-outs, great radio reception, great display, lots of fm presets, 18 I think. 2 color to choose from for button lights

Weakness:

Tricky MP3 folder navigation and that is about it

Very nice head unit. I have owned 3 kenwood head units and they have all been great. This unit is the best by far!!! Nice sound quality, has bss/mid/treble controls. Not many units at this price do. Especially ones that play MP3. Has 2 sets of preouts, also has GREAT FM radio reception. My last car had Sh**y reception so I really didn't listen to the radio a lot, now that I have great reception, I remember why. No Big deal, because with just a few mp3 cd's I have a virtual radio station in my car. NIce appearance, nice to have dimmer. The EQ preset this is ok. Has no problems reading mp3s so far. Out of the 30+ mp3 cd I have tried, only one didn't. Buttons are small but after having kenwood all these years not too much of an adjustment. Scrolling ID3 tags, Fold Name option, tricky folder navigation.

I am really happy with this product. It has not froze up on me once. I burned 135 songs with each band in its own folder. You can flip through each folder(it displayes the name on the screen) select the band you want and then play the songs. IT does a second or two for it to start paying but I really like it it tells you the names of the songs which is a must have with over a hundred songs.

Strength:

the visual graphics is nice..the folder..ID3 tags that come on the MP3's is hot..and its 47W by 4..so its pumpin out some nice sound..

Weakness:

the only problem is that it doesnt come wit a remote..u hav to buy it seperately..and I cant seem 2 find it anywhere..it takes a couple of seconds 2 change frm each mp3 track..but I heard this is normal on most mp3 players

I jus got this MP3 player installed..and its hot..visual..sound..function..and the D-mask thing is a great thing..Ive always heard that Kenwood makes great head units..It definitely worth the cost..even plays CD-RW's..

Strength:

Excellent in playing audio CD-R and MP3 CD-R. ID3 tag scrolling is wonderful.

Weakness:

Had problem with CD-RW. I believe the CD-RW had to be burned as Disc at once (like the CD-R) in order to play it. Otherwise, you get a Table of Contents (TOC) error. Also, when accessing the MP3 folders is not intuitive. One way was to just press the'' buttons and another way is by the 'FM' and 'AM' buttons. What is up with that?

Very impressive unit. Plays audio CDs, audio CD-R and MP3 CD-R without any problem. Love the ID3 tag scrolling and letters are very readable. It took me a while to understand how to properly catalog the MP3s. It is a must especially when you can load 120+ songs with one CD. Once you got it, it is great. The multiple colors are easier on the eyes too. Dimmer function is great because it brings in enough light to the unit so it doesn't glare that much.

Got this for less than the recommended price because Circuit City wanted me to buy their extended warranty.
