plays mp3s change freqencies for low mid and high 3 sets of rcas 4v cd and mp3 text scroll lots of options
Weakness:
slow on reading mp3 you have to stop the car to adjust some things funky detachable face Very nice for the price I was worried it would skip with the bass but it dont like my old clarion did. My old player had 4v rcas but i gained 4 db with the jvc. Extremly clean sound. Best looking deck Ive had in my dash I dont have to change cds all the time and you can change the angle. Strength:
Everything. It sounds great, its 4 volts(not 2 like most decks) has tons of preset EQs and u can program your own, user friendly, doesnt skip, i like the chrome look, and the red at nite. How when you take the face off the back covers the slot for the CD, so it looks like it doesnt have a cd or tape player even.
Weakness:
The face is a little wierd to put back on, feels sorta like you have to force it on, but doesnt bother me at all I love this thing. I hated having to change cds every time i felt like a different type of music, or waiting for a cd changer to load. I made a mp3 cd w/ my 12 favorite cds and it plays them perfect. I have them all named and in seperate folders, i dont think there is anything that could be better then that!@ Similar Products Used: None |

Good looks. Easy to use. Reads CD-R''s and CD-RW''s well Plays MP3!!
Weakness:
No pause button. Attaching face doesn''t feel secure. Awesome product. This thing kicks ass. It does not skip(yet). Very easy to use. Many many useful features. Reads ID3v1 tags unlike the Sony xxx450. The only problem I have with this unit is when attaching the face, you don''t get the familiar "click" feel to let you know it''s on correctly. I often take it off and put it back on to make sure. Similar Products Used: Sony |

I like the menu system. You can do almost everything on the stereo through only a couple of buttons. I kept the same speakers, no amp and they sound way better. The sound was muffled before, now it is very crisp. It navigates through MP3 folders well
Weakness:
This may or may not be a weakness to some, the MP3 folders are much easier to navigate through using the included remote rather than the units buttons. What can I say? This product is great. I have used quite a few other head units before and this one is intuitive, pretty and powerful. Similar Products Used: Stock stereo''s, Alpine non-mp3 enabled, Rockford-Fosgate(crap) |

Excellant value, Great looks.. tiltable faceplate....sooo many options.. sub control.. powerful internal amp..24 bit DAC. This unit smashes the competition.
Weakness:
Time it takes to skip from 1 mp3 track to another... other than that , it''s just about perfect... WOW... for the money this unit can''t be beat..even the comparable decks costing 2X as much have a hard time beating this unit. Just hooked unit up to a 600 watt phoenix Gold Tantrum 4ch amp and sub... amazing! The internal amp was decent as well..just needed to add a sub to my Vegas to round out the sound. Don''t hesitate.... buy it... if you''re looking for a mp3 head unit... this is the way to go! I like the buttons on the face plate too... too many other units have very confusing faces... this unit is straight forward and easy to use....GO JVC!!! Similar Products Used: Sony.. MP3 capablilites, clean power, ease of use
Weakness:
None This is quite a nice car MP3 player. It is no where near as good as the as sonicblue riovolts, but for a car unit it is awesome. Superior to the sony or aiwa''s. The sound quality is excellent, even though I have some slight high pitch hissing when the music''s level decreases alot. I am not sure what the source is. The controls are easy to use once you read the manual and the on board amp has quite abit of power. It won''t wake the neighbors but it will handle your speakers quite well. I have some memphis speakers Similar Products Used: bose oem system |

Strength:
mp3/cd-rw compatibility, on-board 200 watt amp is decent, extremely stylish
Weakness:
controls are a little small, display is a little hard to read during the day but it is still viewable, when playing an mp3 disc the unit will only play it if it has less than 12 sub directories (I can''t play any of my archived mp3 discs because of this) The kdsh99 is simply put an awesome piece of audio equipment. Great sound, tons of options, sytylish, realiable, and not too expensive. I must congratulate JVC on the production of this unit. The mp3 compatibility is great. Discs never skip, mp3 or regular audio, unless driving over extrememly rigid terain, like off roading (I drive an Isuzu Rodeo). For the price I truly believe that this is the best head unit on the market. After researching and testing out different eclipse, sony, and clarion head units I chose to go with the JVC despite its lack of a reputation in car audio. Obviously the kdsh99 won''t stand out in competition or wow anyone who is a complete car audio phreak, but if you are looking for a great head unit, but not looking to break the bank, this product is for you.
