Strength:

Ease of use, price.

Weakness:

Some problems with ejecting cds.

I bought the mp3510 in the summer of 2001. Installed it myself with the kit from Crutchfield. I had never installed a radio before - only problem I had wiring it was finding a good way to ground it to the vehicle. It was very easy to learn how to use it, and it worked great. Except that on a few occasions the unit would refuse to eject the cd. Very strange, it was as if the eject button wasn't connected well or something b/c it wouldn't make the beep it usually makes when the player ejects correctly. I had never used the remote, and if I had thought of it, it might have had an eject button. Then I could have found out if it was the button on the unit or something else. This problem never bothered me a whole lot b/c with an mp3 disc inside it I still had quite a variety of songs, but is still an issue. I just recently traded in my truck for a new one and plan to get another mp3510 for my new truck - this time professionally installed.

Strength:

Price, Looks/Design, Sound Quality, Remote Control

Weakness:

Faceplate is too reflective during sunlight, MP3 tag is ony 30 characters long.

Ever since I wanted to upgrade my Car CD player to an MP3 player, I spent quite a bit of time on the web looking for that next step. Considering I had less than $200 to spend on it, I searched over and over until I found the Jensen MP3510. The faceplate design is quite nice, and I must say it looks even better in real life than in the pictures (especially at night). MP3 disk access, Title displays, reading from sub-directories and sound quality are excellent. The button design and use is very intuitive and it will take you just a few minutes to learn how to use it, plus having the remote control unit makes it very easy to handle all its features. Anti-theft removable faceplate and a red flashing security light are a plus. The only real setback is that during bright sunlight, the faceplate is very reflective and the display becomes hard to read. If you have it installed professionally, there is no reason for the player to "stop working" after 1 week of use. I would recommend anyone who is looking for their first Car MP3 Player to buy this one.
