SQ SQ SQ Detailed, Warm and Clean sound
Weakness:
none Ultra nice head unit in term of sound quality. I couln't find any head units that could match this price vs its performance. It is true that it clearly compete with sony c-90 and nakamichi cd-700 as other reviewers stated. And I am very sure that the display reads much better than c-90. I am powering this unit head with Mcintosh MC204 and Diamond HEX Speakers. The result is super detailed, warm and clean sound. No clipping or distorted sound at all. I am highly recommended this unit to anyone who concerns sound quality at reasonable price. Similar Products Used: nakamichi cd-700 Mcintosh MX406 |

Strength:
great audiophile sound, tuner section is crystal clear the steering wheel remote is plus
Weakness:
buttons are way too small, lack of inner detail doesn't really put out 4volts more like 1volt rms. I purchase this on ebay because of the reviews I read on the internet. When I first hooked up the unit. It did'nt disapoint. It has audiophile sound all the way. The sound coming out of this unit is ultra smooth, warm, inviting, and round. Tonally its incredible very seductive. The only weakness is that it doesn't provide to much inner details and nuisance. This unit sure made me a Clarion fan. Great sound quality with plenty of adjustment, best tuner ive heard, solid looks.
Weakness:
A little tough to read display in the daytime, also i would like to see a seperate eq for the non fading sub output. This is a great receiver. This is the third receiver i have owned from clarion and this one is the best so far. The tone bypass which bypasses all tone controls on the radio does improve the sound quality slightly but you cant turn it up quite as loud due to the fact you cant control bass, treble etc.. I would say the best feature on the radio is the tuner which is amazing. Similar Products Used: Pioneer deh-p 8000r |

Strength:
great value cause they cleared them out at LOW prices Liked that it didn't have amps built in (wasted anyway for a serious system)....by pass mode really does improve SQ
Weakness:
no tilt feature on the face, tuner is average got this deck over a year ago on ebay. Wanted to cash out of my C90 deck (saw that new Sony Hard drive decks were coming) and get a cheaper less "attractive" deck for thieves. Was starting to park outside more often. Accepting a little downgrade in SQ with the HX-D10, I was surprised the deck IMPROVED the SQ with CD playback. The screen reads much better than the Sony C90. Only negatives I could hear was the radio wasn't as "clear" as the Sony C90 and the deck didn't have a tilt feature. I have not done much to the system for a while now but have quality parts all around...PG 475Ti amp, Focal 136K fronts, Xtant EQ and dual Boston Pro Subs. Overall this was a great valued deck you could build a great system around. not a high profile deck and you rarely read about it online or in print. Not top of the line but it has more features than a Nak CD400, sounds about as good and the design is still low key. BTW the NAKCD400 is awesome too...have that in another car. Strength:
Great sound quality and made of high grade components, also nice graphic display, highly recomend it. Bought mine for only $260 brand new from a friend.
Weakness:
Small buttons, display illumination not bright enough. Takes time to adjust to remote control (too small) Absolutely one of the best cd players out in the market, nice looking and easy to use. Real nice SQ on cd player section, radio music sounds o.k. clearly competes with Sony C-90 and Nakamichi CD-700. Similar Products Used: Alpine Phantom Face,Nakamichi CD-700 And Sony's C-90 |

Strength:
Excellent Sound quality Build is solid, Features ALMOST everything you need.
Weakness:
No time alignment, Tiny buttons, Pre-out voltage could be better The Lack of features mean that you must pay close attention to your install - no electronic compensation if you are stuck with less that ideal locations. BeatEQ is pretty lame. What a sweet little deck. Tone bypass and clean, clean outputs make this deck really sound wonderful. Very smooth Bass output, a solid feeling faceplate, and very legible display. Runs cool year round, and gave me a new definition of SQ. Similar Products Used: Too many to list. |

The CD section is the strongest feature of this radio. A 3 band Parametric is nice even with its limited capabilities. Reads CD-R's with CD-Text... very nice!
Weakness:
Volume knob is not analog. Very nice CD Player. Fairly simple to use with elegant looks. CD section is excellent & the tuner is great, although a step behind top of the line models. Dual illumination... I have not had any issues with skipping, as other have stated. I have been using Clarion products for many years & all have been solid units that resist skipping as well as any others without memory built in... Similar Products Used: Alpine 7892, 7894. Strength:
Sound Quality, by far. I can get into the techno nitty gritty, but just take my word for it. This tuner sounds AWSOME.
Weakness:
Radio turning on after CD is ejected; but you can just turn the volume down :-) The steering wheel remote is cheesy, lol. I never even desired to use it. Excellent piece of technology. I paid alot for it; compared to today's cost, however I am not mad! I bought my 1 1/2 years ago, and I am still overly impressed. At that time, with the competition of that time, the HX-D10 kicked Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood, etc's butt. Especially for the money. The list price was $750 then.. It also controls a Mini-disc changer as well. We Americans for some reason didnt get with the program w/ Minidiscs, but they kick butt over seas. Nice features too. You have got alot of nerve to NOT get this tuner, especially if you dont have $ for the newer models by other companies. Keep in mind that this used to be a $750 tag tuner. Clarion techs informed me it has audiophile grade components, thus the reason why it is deemed a special edition head unit. Go get one, you will not be disappointed. That guy talking about the need for a co-processor is crazy. Similar Products Used: Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood, Sony, Blauplunkt, Pioneer, and Nak. |

GREAT OUTPUT, best ive ever heard, out did the quality of my 98' Sony ES 8580 Nice looks, not all stupid futuristic looking, looks like it sounds, quality. Great EQ options, my 22band trunk mount eq is broke right now, and the only thing i miss is 8volts going to my amp.
Weakness:
FOGGING lens, take a while for Cd's to play in winter, not a problem if you like the radio though. This is a heck of a stereo but there are always negatives to a good thing ya know. Lets start with the positive: GREAT OUTPUT, combined with my trunk mount eq, this thing pumps clear music out at any volume setting. Nice moterized face. Great EQ capability, it actually works, thats what parametric is for. Thats about the extent of its greatness, the output is sooooo good, that i overall looked any and all negatives and have kept the stereo. (note: its hard to find a stereo that no only sounds quality, but looks quality these days). Now for the negatives. Like the guy above said, thing tries to turn radio on when cd ejects(thats ok you can press source while cd ejects and it wont happen). IF YOU LIVE IN THE COLD DONT BUY IT, the lens fogs up and it will piss you off if you have to warm up your cd player every morning. I also hate the fact that once eq options are in use, it doesnt go away until you flip through all the options Similar Products Used: clarion xdz715 (damn near the same thing) |
