Model Reviewed: Clarion DXZ555MP

Strength:

great sound!

Weakness:

LED burnt out on right side

good for 40 BUCKS! but the right side of the LED screen is burnt out, and the switch track back nob is broke so i have to use the remote, but this stereo really makes my stock from 86' ACDelco Speakers sound good better than a $200 complete unit

Strength:

Good sound, a decent amount of power, plays multiple music formats.

Weakness:

Button layout is annoying, a couple of weird/useless features, no integration with my car's steering wheel volume/track /channel buttons, remote is basically useless.

Got this HU about a month ago. It has good power and sound. The only problems I have with it are ergonomical. First of all, the volume knob, for some unknown reason, presses in. It doesn't control the power like you would expect. In fact it functions exactly the same whether it is pushed in or pulled out. This is kind of annoying. Also, the Track +/- is right next to the volume, so sometimes when you go to change the volume you wind up slipping and changing the track instead. Very annoying. I will probably use this for a while and then get an Alpine unit, I like the button layout on those a little more. Also, what's the deal with the remote? I'm two feet away from the thing. If the remote worked from anywhere in the car, I suppose I could glue it to my steering wheel or something. But it needs to be pointed directly at the HU to work.
