Strength:

Good sound, nice display

Weakness:

Connection from face to main is busted, when face folds down, the stereo turns off. Might be an easy fix, but it's not worth it.

Overall a decent stereo. Have to sell though, and I'm sure not to get my money out of it.

Great player.

Weakness:

CD player gives ERROR6 all the time, CD will not play. Anyone who knows how to fix this error, please e-mail me. Thank you.

Not a bad stereo all round. The install wasn't all that bad, puts out clear sounds. Only one problem, the CD player.

Strength:

Brilliant sound, excellent build quality. CD titling and a nice big screen. Really good value for money.

Weakness:

The usual one. The screen is almost impossible to read in strong sunlight. It showed an error 3 and 6 at one stage, but the unit was 2 years old already and has never been cleaned. One stop to my local stereo shop to service it helped. It plays flawlesly now. I''ve had it for about 3-4.

This is an Awsome head unit, It doesn''t skip, jump or hop and I''ve really abused the unit. The 4V pre out makes a diffs, but if SQ is your game, then I''d recommend a pre amp.

Strength:

Cool face (love that neon blue), 4V RCA's make a huge difference, never skips, front and rear RCA outs, wicked sound.

Weakness:

Hard to see in sunlight, remote is unnecessarily bulky, no attenuator (really miss my Panasonic on this) or mute (except on the remote), have to cycle through entire bass/treb menu before menu closes.

Awesome head unit for sound, and those 4V RCA's will make a huge difference in sound if you are running amps. The neon blue face is really cool at night (I like lights) and I have never had this thing skip on me, even when it was in my truck (not the smoothest ride). Tons of power off the deck and accurate, very low noise. I really miss that attenuator off of the Panasonics though, and cycling through that bass/treb menu is a pain in the ass. The remote looks like a bubble and is thicker than the one for my television. Clarion dealers will call this a "feature" so you don't lose it. Poor engineering is often called a "feature" :). Another thing is that once the deck is in, getting it out is a b*tch. The keys provided are ok, but you will still bend them up nicely struggling with the deck. Of course all this doesn't matter if you are not modifying your stereo every week like I am :)

Overall this deck is the bomb. I would recommend it to ANYONE looking for a quality deck to slap into any vehicle, competition or daily listening.

Strength:

great sound, good value if you get a good deal, good tuner, neato colorful display

Weakness:

-display hard to read in bright sunlight
-when adjusting treb/bass/fader, have to go cycle through all before you can adjust vol again
-no mute button

I paid $270 for mine new. I immediately noticed a more detailed and cleaner FM reception. The CD sound was clean and loud from my (crap) Cambridge Soundworks 5.25 components and (okay) Pioneer 2-way 6X9's. The rotary volume knob was a neat feature, and most functions are intuitive. Was stolen 3 months after I got it. All in all, great, but check out the Eclipse 500X series if you're paying close to retail, having it professionally installed, and are more interested in great sound than features. In my opinion, the Eclipse sounds a bit better for around $300.
