MP3000
Strength:
Nice tuner, ID3 display, decent power, preamp outputs, bright display.
Weakness:
Display brightness cannot be adjusted, cannot play pocket CDs. Unit works flawlessly on prerecorded CDs, burned CDs, CDRWs, MP3s. I have not experienced any of the problems with MP3 playback reported by other users, no chirps, squeaks, pops, etc. (other than those that are actually on the MP3). |

MP3000
Strength:
-RW,FF mp3 files -rotor dial for volume (kenwood and many other companies do not make them) -Good display -great ID3 tag options
Weakness:
-very occasional chirp (once or twice a day) -once it wouldnt eject the CD properly, but I tried later that night and it has worked perfectly ever since -I have heard Blau USA has poor tech. support Good Player. I rarely hear these chirps that other people consistantly talk about. I would say that there is about 1 chirp for every 30 minutes of playtime - nothing major. The display is great and very informative. It has also played every CD I have ever put in it (with the exception of a DirectCD). This player is the best priced:money ratio cd-mp3 player on the market. Similar Products Used: Kenwood 8017 |

Strength:
It does seem to play a conventional CD OK.
Weakness:
Strangely dysfunctional product. I figured that a product called MP3000 might actually be able to play MP3s -- not! I burned multiple disks on different computers, different media, and in both MP3 and WMA formats. They work fine on my $120 DVD player. Batting .000 on the Blaupunkt -- back it goes! |

Strength:
Fast cueing of MP3's Doesn't skip 23W rms x 4
Weakness:
It's grey, I'd prefer black Flip down face The MP3000 has worked great for me. The file navigation is intuitive and the MP3 files cue very fast compared to other similarly priced units. I've read the reviews that complain of chirps, but I did not experience this. It think chirps are directly related to the sampling rate at which an MP3 was made. I made an MP3 cd and tested it before I bought anything. Since the unit was at costco ($179), I was able to lift and slam the display unit. I couldn't make it skip no matter how much I shook or banged it. I also looked at the JVC sx980 and the Jenson 3310. Both were good, but the MP3000 was the best combo of price and performance without having to order online. Similar Products Used: JVC SX 980 Jenson 3310 |

Strength:
Looks good (simple), nice blue backlight
Weakness:
CHIRPS CHIRPS and more CHIRPS - probably 75% of the (MP3) songs do NOT sound as they should. Also, the light (while nice during the day), is way too bright at night (and cannot be dimmed). Worse, even besides the chirping, though, is the fact that more than half the time it can't read my MP3-CDs (burnt on different computers at different speeds). While I think this may be a case of bad luck with mine, I have read about other people having problems with errors after turning the car on and off. I'm returning mine! Basically, it doesn't work as good as it looks. It plays regular CDs just fine, but MP3s are always a problem - and I didn't buy it just to listen to regular CDs. Similar Products Used: None yet, but I'm definitely returning this one for something a lot, well, better. |

1996 Jimmy
Strength:
There's plenty of features for extra bass control. Easy controls. RCA input...a nice feature more aux devices or perhaps an add-on multimedia system.
Weakness:
I prefer volume buttons instead of dials. Only one preamp. need more... I was told that the unit was 9.2 inches and my Jimmy can only hold 9.0 inches long. The custom kit bumped the unit outward like 2" from stock so it's sticking out like a soar thumb...gm car sucs. But I guess it fits! I just got it not too long ago. Installtion was easy, esp with Crutchfiled's custom kits. For the price I paid compared to other mp3 stereos around this price I think it was worth it. More features such as id3 tags (ver 1 & 2) and wma format in addition to mp3 format. It sounds good; I used its built in amplifier. The display is large and blue...makes it look attractive. I also got the remote free! It's nice having one...I probably wouldn't pay $26 extra for it though...too basic of controls for that price. I didn't have problems with any songs. Ant the ones that I did have problems I knew it before had; poor encoding. You just have to make sure mp3 files were encoded correctly and from a CLEAN source, not a scratched CD, etc. which can cause annoying audible sounds. For the price I bought it for and the features it had, which was more, versus others around its price it was worth it. Similar Products Used: None, just other name brand cp players ony. Kenwood has nice remotes. |

Strength:
Clear display with ID3 tags. Installs without modifications to dash. Easy to browse titles and folders, even while driving. I have not experienced the chirps reported by the other user of this product. So far, it has played mp3s without trouble. I have only used it with a couple of CDs I've burned, but so far so good. I'll change this review if I start seeing problems. |

Good controls, reasonably powerful, good feature set.
Weakness:
Poor MP3 playback. Squeeks and chirps abound. Tried the same disks with other MP3 players without incident. Good unit, but with a rather severe drawback. |

Strength:
Bright, programmable display, removable faceplate, LOOKS COOL, hasn''t skipped yet.
Weakness:
Pretty darned bright display--sometimes I catch myself thinking the interior light''s on. I really like this product. Put it in my ''89 Jeep Wrangler. I showed it to a friend of mine this weekend...flipped through 14 records (folders) on it. He looked around inside the jeep and asked, "Where''s your changer?" I popped the disk and held it up. "It''s all RIGHT HERE," I said. put it back in, cued up track #177 and started giggling. Just finished compiling the complete Led Zeppelin recordings onto one disk. Rolling Stones are next. The tuner''s great too, but I don''t know WHAT I''ll do with 36 presets. And skipping? Well, when I went off-roading (''89 Wrangler = four leaf springs), my old Kenwood would just pause until the bumps ended. In the dirt for any length of time and I just shut it off. But this thing--WOW! I head up into the mountains to go shooting once in a while. Have to head up this hard dirt (see SOCAL, above) road for about 8 miles, and this thing gets graded about once a year. Lots of washboard, drainage ruts, rocks. I''ve been amazed. Even with MP3s, this thing HASN''T SKIPPED ONCE (knock on wood)! And for $200 from Ebay, it''s almost disposable! Similar Products Used: Kenwood CD receiver, Pioneer Supertuner |
