Strength:
great sound, wonderful cd-drive, price, easy-to-install
Weakness:
none observed It is amazing about alpine that a 8-years-old car stereo can read cdr's burned at 16x.CD-player sounds great due to an advanced(even for nowadays)D/A converter. AM tuner works OK, but unfortunately to me it's a US-market product working on an european territory, so I cannot use the FM tuner, there are only "echoes" of the FM stations:) but when I was staying in the US it worked OK. Strength:
Great sound quality, but needs an equalizer to get the best quality out of it.
Weakness:
Mine gets way too hot on long trips, and when it gets hot it skips on the smallest bumps in the road. The bass control is not fine enough, when changing the bass it changes too much. I had to get a seperate equalizer to get the sound quality I wanted. I have owned mine for about 1 year now, and I think there is definately something wrong with it. When I go on long trips, after the first hour the player will get really hot! I mean so hot that when touching the faceplate it can burn my fingers! My last trip, which was 10 hours long, was the worst. I actually thought the player had died! After 4 hours of driving I could smell burning plastic, that was the CD being cooked. This had happened before, and it doesn't seem to wreck the CDs, it just makes them smell bad... Then all of a sudden it stopped sending out sound! I had to drive for 6 more hours with no music!!! I only partially worked for the next couple days, the volume could only be up a little bit before it would die. Then all of a sudden it started working again and I have been using it for the last week with no problems... I am sure it will get hot as usual on long trips, but I am working on getting a new player anyways. Similar Products Used: first CD player |

Strength:
This is the first Alpine product I've ever owned, but it certainly isn't the last. The sound is crisp and clear, it's way better than the blaupunkt that was installed in my car when I bought it.
Weakness:
push button volume controle, not rotary. I drive a vw polo (with sports suspension) as a daily driver, and roads here aren't too great, potholes 5 cm deep aren't rare sights, yet my alpine system played on, no skipping yet. I can live with the push button design for volume controle, the only real annoyance is that it's kinda hard to use the functions such as pty, rds and eon, because there isn't a menu system, even cheap jvc's have that. sounds great at a good price
Weakness:
unatractive face This deck sounds and plays great. I havent had it skip on me once. you may think the 35x4 wattage sounds weak but it makes very efficent use of it. it gives great clearity with a smooth rich sound. I have two cheap 6X9 kenwood speakers and they sound 100% better than they did befor the deck change. it is very durable and i would recomend this deck to any one who wants great sound. don't spend more than you have to on a sony or something this is perfect for Amateurs Similar Products Used: all other high quality brands |

Strength:
Strength:
Excellent stereo! CD player never skips and sounds clean. I was very pleased with the performance of this reciever unit. Has it's own safety features to avoid overheating too... cool! Has everything you need and nothing you don't.
Weakness:
Skipped a hand full of times when I hit large pot-holes driving on the freeway. I bit pricey, but it will last you forever. paid about $215 installed. I would have done it myself, but the wires were all torn up 'cause my previous stereo was stolen. Similar Products Used: Kenwood, Sony |

Alpine doesn't make good looking faceplates. paid 180. Never skips. Sounds good. Will make use of the pre-out soon. Better than panasonic in sound quality and skipping. Similar Products Used: panasonic cd receiver |

Strength:
The quality and reliability of this product is excellent. It plays CD-R media with no problems. The sound is clean and with hardly no skipping. That says a lot considering that my struts on my car are gone.
Weakness:
I agree the faceplate is a little plain. This is a minor complaint. I care more about reliability and sound then looks. I was going to buy the Kenwood that was on display. However, the salesman talked me out of it and told me to go with the Alpine. I wasn't too sure because I had owned an older Alpine model and the LCD had burnt out, the decals had faded, and the rewind button didn't work. I'm glad I went with the Alpine. Alpine must have worked out all the problems they had in their older models. This product has worked flawlessly and I have used it continuously every day for over a year. The decals are still there due to them being indented. Similar Products Used: Kenwood, Sony, Aiwa (POS) |

Strength:
Rich sound without distortion
Weakness:
None Works very good, rarely skips, easy to use. It came with the car. My previous car had a Sony CDX-610 which was stolen from me =< When I bought the car I have now it came with the Alpine. I was thinking about replacing it with a Sony like I had before. People told me Sony really isnt all that good, that Alpine focuses more on bass enhancements and richer sound without distorion. My friend has a car which has a Sony just like the one I had, we compared it with the Alpine I now have, and the Alpine sounds great. Similar Products Used: Sony CDX-610 |
